Principal's Announcements

Team,

It’s hard to believe we’re already heading into Week 8! The year is moving so quickly, and the end of the quarter is right around the corner on October 22. How are we already here?!

Fall is in full swing, or at least it’s supposed to be… because apparently, the heat has decided to make a comeback. I’m not going to lie, this has made me a little upset. I was ready for fall weather and soup season (also chili, if you consider that a soup)!

As we settle into another week at Parkview, let’s keep showing up for one another, celebrating the little wins, and making the most of the time we have together. With the end of the quarter approaching, let’s stay focused, support our students, and finish strong. Thank you for the energy, heart, and commitment you bring to our school each day. I’m grateful to be part of this Parkview family, and I’m excited to see what we accomplish together. Let’s make it a great Week 8!

As always GO VIKINGS!!

Josh

Multi-Factor Authentication

As part of Springfield Public Schools' ongoing commitment to cybersecurity, SPS will expand the use of Multi-factor Authentication (MFA) for systems that use Google or Microsoft for authentication. Below are details on why this change is being made and who is affected.

Why is MFA Important?

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security procedure that requires two or more pieces of evidence to log into a system, significantly improving account security through multiple layers of verification and protecting sensitive district data from unauthorized access. Windows Hello provides you an easy way to meet the MFA requirement. Learn how to set up Windows Hello here.

Who is Impacted?

All district staff will be included in the MFA requirement. Student accounts are not impacted by this change.

What is needed from you?

Tuesday morning, you’ll adjust how you log into your computer. Watch for an email from the Help Desk on Monday with instructions.

Climate and Culture Survey

You should have received an email for the SPS climate and culture survey. Please take time to complete the survey to provide our district with feedback.

Your honest feedback will help us understand where we are now and where you want us to be in the future.

Between now and Oct. 30, please take a moment to complete the survey below that applies to your position:

Staff Absences Procedures

Absences can be submitted up to 1 hour prior to start time, then you will need to call 417-986-7400.

Always let DJ know when you put in a late absence.

Please put all absences in as soon as you know about an event.

If you must leave early, please let your lead, DJ, and your AP know that you are leaving.

Viking Time

Our second cycle of Viking Time intervention has kicked off this week. Please ensure that students you draft are rostered in your Smart Pass/Flex activity.

Viking Time is more than an extra 30 minutes in the day, it is an opportunity to ensure every student gets what they need to be successful. Please give some grace to our students as they navigate this new process!

Our current RTI cycle runs through the next 3 week cycle 10/5 - 10/23.

Trip Driver Recruitment Opportunity

Team, please click the link below regarding an opportunity to earn extra money, build valuable skills, and maximize retirement benefits. SPS Transportation is seeking current district employees to become CDL-trained sub Bus Drivers for athletics and activities trips!

Vector/Safeschools Training

Vector/Safeschools training must be completed by Sunday October 25, 2026. Please use the link below to access your training modules.

Electronic Device Infraction Procedure

Call the office. Any secretary can notify an administrator.

  1. The office will radio an administrator to respond.
  2. An administrator will come to the classroom, collect the student and electronic device, and address the infraction.
  3. The student may return to class without their electronic device.
  4. The student will return via SmartPass, or
  5. An administrator will escort the student back to class.
  6. The administrator will send the teacher a follow-up email regarding the incident.

Student IDs

Students are expected to wear their school issued IDs when on a Smartpass in the hallways. Students who do not have a school ID should use the ID ordering form to order a new ID.

Things to keep in mind and share with students:

  • Students will receive their initial ID and one free replacement ID. ID's ordered after that will be $5.00 per ID.
  • ID's should be visible at all times
  • No ID, no SmartPass
  • ID is required for entry into all SPS athletics events
  • No sticker ID's will be printed this year

Safe Space Sticker Training

The 2026-2027 Safe Space Sticker training is now available in Canvas. Staff who wish to obtain a district-approved Safe Space sticker may complete the course. This is an optional training.

Sailing Together: Meet Our Viking Crew

Gloria Gammel (Science)

I have been a teacher at Parkview for 23 years. I teach science and have taught a few varieties in the past, I tend to get the oddball classes, right now I am teaching Biomedical and Anatomy. When I am not stressing out about lab prep, I am home with my dogs (I have three and they are amazing) where we play, walk, or just cuddle on the coach. Last year I taught myself to knit and crochet both of which have become a huge part of life and budget. (I hope to see you at the next Coffee and Crafts meeting).
