The Honorable Gavin Newsom
Governor of California
1303 10th Street, Suite 1173
Sacramento, CA 95814

Dear Governor Newsom:

On behalf of the Printing Industries of California and our affiliate organizations, we strongly urge you to designate the Printing Industry as critical to continue to operate in the State of California under the auspices of Executive Order N-33-20. Without doubt, printed and graphic communications are essential in a time of national emergency. The wide array of print applications is fundamental to seeing our nation through this health crisis.

A few examples of our critical work include:
* Patient Instructions, Pharmaceutical Directions & Packaging
* Printed Government and Public Health Information
* Advisory/Directional Signs & Banners
* Packaging of Personal Protective Equipment, and Food/Consumer Goods
* SBA Disaster Loan Documents
* Voting Guides & Absentee Ballots
* Census 2020 Forms

As stated in the Executive Order N-33-20, and in consultation with the Director of the Governor's Office of Emergency Services, you may designate additional sectors as critical in order to protect the health and well-being of all Californians. We are formally seeking to be added as an additional critical industry. Our national trade Association, the Printing Industries of America, is also actively working to be added to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's CISA (Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency) issued guidance identifying "Critical Infrastructure" during COVID-19. We are confident that by following CDC and CDPH guidelines on social distancing and other preventative measures, our critical industry can continue operating safely.

Please contact RJ Cervantes at 916-262-4682 or at rjc@fernandezgov.com with any questions or concerns. On behalf of the 70,000 people in California who work in our industry, and the over 4,800 business who operate here, we thank you for your leadership of our great State during this tumultuous time.
