2022 PIBC Chapter Chairs Meeting

On November 18, PIBC Chapter Chairs from all over BC and Yukon met in-person for the first time since 2019 for the annual PIBC Chapter Chairs Meeting. This gathering provides the opportunity for Chapter Chairs to meet and discuss successes and challenges over the past year, especially with the uptake of activities in 2022. David Block, PIBC President, provided a warm welcome and Dave Crossley, PIBC Executive Director, provided updates on operations and Chapter budgets.

Thank you to all who were able to attend and to Sophie King, PIBC's Professional Learning & Events Coordinator, for organizing this important meeting.

For over 25 years, our Local Government programs have provided courses designed specifically for local government professionals. SPRING 2023 Elective Courses: 

Capilano U’s PADM 209 Corporate Administration course is unique in BC and will equip you with the essential knowledge and skills you need to be more effective in your work. Topics include bylaw drafting, applying parliamentary law and meeting rules of order, public consent processes, Freedom of Information requests, elections, records management and more. PADM 209 will be offered as a mixed mode course (in person and online components) It fulfills the elective course requirement in the Local Government Administration Certificate program and is a required course for the Local Government Advanced Certificate and Diploma programs. Capilano U’s PADM 210 Management Fundamentals for LG Professionals course provides foundational knowledge and skills related to managing staff, managing work and managing self, to become more effective in your current or future role as a manager in a municipality, regional district or related organization. The instructor for this course is John Leeburn, former CAO, who brings his many years of local government experience and management knowledge to this highly interactive and exciting course for new, improving and aspiring local government managers. Offered in Kelowna over six days: February 2, 3, 4 and March 9, 10, 11 2023.
