Welcome Visitors!
Join us each Sunday as we gather around Word & Sacrament.
Stop by our visitors table for a free gift.

We have a nursery for your young ones, and coffee is available in the Narthex.
And you are welcome to spend time during worship in our Pray Ground                with your Toddlers!

Private Prayer Every Sunday

Sometimes it is good to be able to share our prayer concerns with another Christian. That's what the after-service Prayer Room (#111, next to the nursery) is all about. If you want to share a prayer concern for yourself or someone you love, there will be a Stephen Minister waiting for you!

 Remember Christ said,
"For where two or three gather in my name,
      there am I with  them."
                                                                     Matt. 18:20
Picnic Sunday!
Church Picnic
Our annual Memorial Day Church Picnic will be held Sunday, May 26 after service in the Pavilion (or CFC in case of rain). Please bring salads, side dishes or desserts to share. We'll have music trivia and games for the kids.  And, Thrivent will provide a truck with FREE ICE CREAM!

This year, we invite car, truck and motorcycle enthusiasts (or someone you know who has one) to bring your special or classic vehicle to St. Luke for the Church Picnic! We will have a portion of the parking lot reserved, just come and park so we can enjoy.
Grateful Sermon Series

Today Pastor Cliff will conclude a series of teaching on being grateful. We've studied "Habits of Gratitude" - ways to be thankful. Sunday he will share about a "Grateful Society".
Banner of Gratitude

Add your word of gratitude to our new banner beginning today!

Thank you Betty Blair and Priscilla Hughes for making the banner.  We are grateful to you!

Blood Drive
June 2nd, 9:00am - 12:30pm in the CFC.
Vitalant is the Memphis region's only non-profit volunteer blood center, dedicated to meeting the needs of patients, healthcare facilities, medical professionals and the community at large. Every year Vitalant supplies more than 100,000 units of blood and blood products for local patient transfusion.

The donation process only takes about 1 hour and takes place entirely at St. Luke. Each donation of whole blood can help as many as 3 recipients - all of them our neighbors.

A sign-up sheet will be located on the bulletin board outside the office starting May 12th. However, I strongly recommend you sign up at clublifeblood.us. You can also complete your health questionnaire in advance the day of the drive at this website.

Don't forget you earn points with every donation that can be redeemed at clublifeblood.us; rewards include t-shirts, movie passes, and gift cards.
St. Luke Volunteer T-Shirts
We are taking orders for our St. Luke Volunteer T-shirts! We wear these shirts during VBS, the Easter Egg Hunt, Trunk - R- Treat, serving at More Than A Meal, and other community outreach events. If you would like order a shirt, please click on the link below.

You will choose your size and pay online. If we order at least 10 shirts as a group the estimated price will be around $20.14. The shirts will be delivered to the church. The order form will be open until June 5th. If you have any questions please contact Jennifer Wright ( [email protected])
Welcome!

Take-Out Church

Take Out Church kits are available in the Narthex ! Take Out Church is a way for your family  to bring your faith life with you on summer vacation. In this kit are ways that you can worship God, grow as disciples, and love your neighbors. Just as we do on Sunday mornings, you will have opportunities for laughter and fellowship, to praise God, pray, hear God's word, give thanks, and serve. Through it all we want you to take Jesus with you. Included in your kit will be a Flat Jesus. This summer, let's send Flat Jesus to every corner of the world! Let Flat Jesus be a reminder of Jesus's real presence in every place we find ourselves and as a fun reminder to help others encounter God. Take Flat Jesus with you on all of your summer adventures and take your picture with him. Share the pictures on our Facebook page (@StLukeMemphis) using the hashtag #StLukeELCAFlatJesus or email them to   [email protected] .

Family Promise Hosting, July 7-14

Our Family Promise guests will be at St. Luke soon!

Family Promise is a highly successful organization solving   homelessness in Memphis on the front lines.  Please consider being part of this solution at your very own church as we host our families from Sunday, July 7 through Sunday, July 14. There are many volunteer opportunities for everyone - day hosts, dinner hosts, overnight hosts, meal preparations. No job is insignificant in the difference it makes in the lives of our guests. Please prayerfully consider how you can be involved in this life-changing ministry!.

Please see Vikki Ernst, Dan Oakley or Jim Allay for additional information.

Tidbits of the Week - May 19
Wow! We hit a triple: for 2 Sundays, we had visits from Carol Rodman, Janet MacNair, and Barb & Brad Anderson. How's that for our chickens returning to the nest?! (Talk about a mixed metaphor...!)

Hugs to all the Sunday School teachers and helpers who gave so lovingly of their time and talent to our young saints. We are very grateful for each and every one of you!
Congratulations to our new confirmands: John Carkeet, Samuel Dafoe, Claire Decent, Annalise Klobe, Macie Mathers, Eric Parish, and Scout Sowell. This is a great step in your Christian path of life and we all support you in your journey.

Join us Thursday for our trip downtown to go through the Belz Museum, with lunch at the Majestic Grill afterwards. Meet at church at 10am.

Come hungry and wearing shorts, next Sunday. We'll be having a picnic outside in the pavilion, after the worship service in the sanctuary. St. Luke will provide the meat and Thrivent will provide ice cream, so please bring a side dish to share.

Mark June 2 nd on your calendars for our blood drive, from 9-12:30. Please eat a big breakfast and thank you for donating.

Cliff Notes: John 13: 31-35. Gratitude is the transformative power of giving thanks. This becomes habit, with practice and we have the opportunity to practice this four times a day. Gratitude can be a communal activity when we gather with others for celebrations: tailgate parties, school activities, confirmation and communion classes, new member classes, etc. When we join in communion during a worship service, we are celebrating the Eucharist, which means "gratitude" in Greek. When we prepare for the feast, we say, "It is right to give thanks and praise." Jesus' last commandment to his disciples (and us, as disciples) was to love one another. It is hard to be a Christian by yourself; we celebrate and grieve together. Thanks be to God!
Facilities Maintenance Log
We have a log book available in the office for you to note any maintenance needs you come across in the church!

In Mac's mailbox (our Sexton) is a binder called
"Facilities Maintenance Log".  Inside you can write what the issue is, where it is, who reported it and the date.  Mac will check to see if there are needs he should attend to, and note when they are completed.

Thanks for helping keep St. Luke "spiffy"!
