ROLE DESCRIPTIONS AND NOMINATION FORM

It is time to kick off another year of FUNdraising! Each year, the PS 33 Chelsea Prep Parent Teacher Association (PTA) raises money to supplement the school’s public education budgets: the NYC DOE funds provide for only basic educational and capital needs. One of two major funds we raise is the Annual Fund.

The goal of the Annual Fund is to directly and exclusively support the most beloved enrichment programs in the classroom and critical educational resources, including TADA, Center for Architecture, Third Street Music, recess coaches, Math Club, field trips, and many more! Our Annual Fund plays such a crucial role in enhancing the educational experience for both students and staff. Programs such as these would not be possible without your generous contributions. To find out more about the Annual Fund, please click HERE for the flyer.

3 Easy Ways to Donate:

PLEASE DONATE TO THE

TEACHER’S ASSISTANT FUND!

(*this is different from the Annual Fund - please read!*)

WHAT is the Teacher’s Assistant (TA) Fund?

The TA Fund pays for our TEACHER’S ASSISTANTS in K – 5th grades!  It is FULLY parent-funded, which is why it’s so important to contribute!!  Without your contributions, large or small, we will not have TAs to assist our teachers and work with our kids!

WHY are we asking parents to pay for Teacher’s Assistants?

The NYC  Dept of Education does not pay for Teacher’s Assistants.   Parent contributions are the only funds that can be used to hire these TAs.  If a grade does not raise sufficient funds to pay for the TA’s salary, that grade will unfortunately lose their TA for the remainder of the year.

PLEASE DONATE:

DONATIONS of any amount possible for your family are greatly appreciated!  We can’t do this without you!  This is really a SHARED responsibility and privilege!  Please be a part (in whatever capacity you can) of ensuring we can keep our TAs funded all year long!

  • All contributions are tax-deductible as permitted by law.

It’s easy! Just click on your child’s grade below - and THANK YOU!!

October 2024 Annual Meeting, Calendar and Working Business Meetings

Date: October 16, 2024

Time: 6:00 PM

Location: PS 33, 281 9th Avenue, Manhattan, NY 10001

Register to join via ZOOM HERE!

The New York Vision Program of Helen Keller International will be coming to PS 33 on October 21-23. Please fill out and submit this form if you DO NOT want your child to receive vision screening.

See steps 1-5 for the Vision Screening Process for the day of the vision screening:

1. The first vision screening will be conducted by the New York Vision Program team to check the student’s ability to see near and far (most students will pass this screening).

2. Vision Assessment by eye doctor: For students who have trouble in the first screening, a doctor will provide an additional vision assessment to determine if the child needs glasses and/or a full examination.

3. Eyeglasses: If a student needs eyeglasses, a pair will be prescribed and provided to them. The selection of the frames will take place immediately following the exam.

4. If your child needs a more comprehensive eye exam, you will receive a Referral for a more comprehensive eye exam. If you do not have an eye doctor, we encourage you to contact your insurance company or health plan to find a doctor who is covered under your benefits. We will also provide names of doctors in your area.

5. Record of services: The school health office will have a copy of the results of your child’s screening.

6. The eye glasses will be shipped to the school, and you will be informed on your options for pick up.

Please fill out and submit the form if you DO NOT want your child to receive vision screening.
