Inspiring Songs by Women and for Women #3
We recognize the challenging times all are facing and we are committed to providing you all with kind inspiration and motivation.
In that spirit we continue with these PINKK on POINTS in the hope they can provide a positive vibe to your Friday's.
In this PINKK on POINT series, starting in March Women's History Month, we are honoring our women songwriters and performing artists that have inspired us over the years and even more recently. This is series #5 - and this is #3 of 12 in this series! We will feature legends and those that are "new legends" in the works that inspire with their talent and kind hearts.

This is #3 in the series:

Dolly was born in a one-room cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains, the fourth of twelve children. She credits her mother's family for her musical abilities, and her father for her business savvy. She started performing as a child, and began recording at age 13. She met Johnny Cash at The Grand Ole Opry where he encouraged her to follow her instincts in her career.

Dolly was originally signed to perform bubblegum pop, but it was only after a song she composed and harmonized on charted at number 6 that she was allowed to sing country. She went on to achieve a successful career in country and bluegrass music, with hits like "Jolene," "Coat of Many Colors," and "I Will Always Love You."

She has an expansive and varied career, performing music and performing as an actress on television shows, hosting television specials, and acting in the beloved movie "9 to 5" with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. The theme song for the film gave her a triple number one single on the country, pop, and adult contemporary charts.

She is more than a musician, song-writer, and actress. She is also philanthropic, supporting many charitable causes, especially through The Dollywood Foundation. Dolly's Literacy Foundation provides children with books monthly from birth through kindergarten for free.

Dolly Parton's incredible talents are just one part of who she is and what makes her a living legend and inspiration and role model for all women. Her heart and soul and powerfullkindness show in all she does.

" Find out who you are. And do it on purpose"

"I'm not going to limit myself because people won't accept the fact that I can do something else."
