Inspiring Songs by Women and for Women #4
We recognize the challenging times all are facing and we are committed to providing you all with kind inspiration and motivation.
In that spirit we continue with these PINKK on POINTS in the hope they can provide a positive vibe to your Friday's.
In this PINKK on POINT series, we are honoring our women songwriters and performing artists that have inspired us over the years and even more recently. This is series #5 - and this is #4 of 12 in this series! We will feature legends and those that are "new legends" in the works that inspire with their talent and kind hearts. Music is important in times like these!

This is #4 in the series:

LIZZO
Melissa Viviane Jefferson, better known as Lizzo, born in 1988, has taken the airwaves by storm! She has been recording music since 2013, but didn't hit mainstream attention until the release of her third album in 2019, Cuz I Love You . The deluxe album reintroduced "Truth Hurts," a song from her 2017 album, and at the same time "Good As Hell," from her 2016 album, began climbing the charts.

In January 2020, Lizzo was nominated for 8 Grammys at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, and won 3 for Best Urban Contemporary Album, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Traditional R&B Performance for the song "Jerome." She made history as the first black solo female rapper to claim the #1 spot on the top 100 since 2012 with "Truth Hurts."

Lizzo is known for her fun upbeat music, and also her focus on body-positivity and self-love. She has starred in major makeup campaigns, magazine covers, and most recently, repping Absolut Vodka's new Juice line with a message that's all about women of many shapes, sizes, and colors having fun and being sexy.

"When it comes to being a role model to women, I think it's because of the way that I feel about myself, and the way that I treat myself. I am a woman, I treat myself with respect and I love myself, and I think that if I'm holding myself to a certain esteem and keeping it real with myself, then that's going to translate to people like me."
