Decision to discontinue plans for $1B gas-fired power plant 'killed us,' mayor of Pa. town says

RENOVO-The mayor of Renovo has a question for the environmentalists who blocked the construction of a $1 billion natural-gas fired electric generating plant in his borough.

Mayor Gene Bruno wants to know what plans the Clean Air Council, Penn Future and the Center for Biological Diversity have for the economic growth of Renovo.

Their opposition to the Renovo Energy project caused the Bechtel Corp. of Reston, Va., to announce plans for it have been discontinued.

The group tasked by Gov. Josh Shapiro with developing a state-level plan to fight climate change met for the first time this week, a step the Democrat promised to take when he questioned his predecessor's strategy to make Pennsylvania the first major fossil fuel state to adopt carbon pricing.

The group met Tuesday, unannounced, at a time when Shapiro is walking a tightrope between allies: those who support capping planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions from power plants and labor unions whose members work on coal and natural gas sites.

Did you know that PIOGA has an active Membership Committee that’s focused on growing and retaining PIOGA members. The Committee’s mission statement is to ensure the sustainability and growth of PIOGA via connection with current members, potential members, and the public about the value the association holds in the oil and gas industry.

The committee is in search of a Co-Chair to help lead these efforts. We are looking for someone who has business development, sales, marketing experience or someone who just loves the industry and wants to help grow and strengthen PIOGA. It is a limited time commitment, and you can have big impacts on PIOGA and the industry.

Additionally, if you or someone you know has social media experience we are asking you to get involved on the committee to help PIOGA grow its social media presence. Getting involved is a great resume builder and helps you to connect with other industry representatives.
