PIOW Newsletter | April 21, 2021
Greetings!

Welcome to the Spring installment of the Pride in Our Workplace Newsletter. What a busy quarter it has been!

Since the start of 2021, our team has given our website a fresh new look, launched a blog, expanded our consulting capacity, hosted a virtual networking event, and that's only the beginning. Keep scrolling to read more about what we've been up to and what PIOW has planned for the future.

Coping and Hoping as a Community
After nearly a year of quarantine, PIOW hosted a Cope & Hope networking event to reunite our community and reflect on the challenges of 2020 and early 2021. On February 23, we invited LGBTQ+ and allied professionals to share their strategies for coping, staying hopeful, and continuing to advocate for workplace equity.

We want to thank everyone who attended for the vulnerability and joy that you brought to our first-ever virtual networking event. Read our full event recap here to learn more about how we have all been coping and staying hopeful.
Discussing Data-Driven DEI Strategies
During our event's fireside chat, PIOW President John Basile had the opportunity to interview Cogo Labs’ Braden Marstaller. Although Braden is still early in his career, he is already leading an ERG, pushing innovative DEI solutions, and championing LGBTQ+ inclusion at work.

In this blog post, we share our chat with Braden in its entirety and dive deeper into Cogo Labs' innovative DEI work to help you implement similar strategies in your organization.
Downloadable Cope & Hope Best Practice Guide
Our guide to coping, hoping, and keeping racial justice at the forefront of your DEI work is available now. Brush up on best practices and add our Cope & Hope guide to your team's toolkit.

Reflecting on Racial Equity
It can take time to move the needle on DEI at the structural level, but there are small actions we can all take to advocate for more equitable spaces. In recognition of Black History Month, our team released video highlights from last year's racial justice programming. Click below to watch each video and gain strategies for jumpstarting conversations on racial equity in your organization.

New on the Blog: Opening Dialogues on Racial Equity
How can individuals begin to address racial inequities at work? What steps can we take to ensure the creation of more equitable spaces for all employees in our organizations? We address these questions and provide additional resources in our latest blog post. Read more on the PIOW Blog.
Our Growing Organization
Our team is incredibly proud of the ways that PIOW has grown over the past year. To reflect this growth, we are excited to announce that we are expanding PIOW's Board of Directors and service offerings. You can expect the same PIOW, but with additional resources, consulting services, and opportunities for collaboration across the community.

In the coming weeks, keep an eye out for the announcement of our new Board Members on social media. Visit the PIOW Leadership page to meet the incredible folks already on our team.

New to our website is the PIOW Blog. This blog will act as a central hub for PIOW thought leadership, resources, and industry best practices. We will be sharing posts regularly and look forward to using this platform as a means to highlight our own work as well as amplifying LGBTQ+ perspectives from folks outside of our organization.

Want to share your perspective on the PIOW Blog? Get in touch.
