Host a Shinshin

Hosting a Shinshin is a time-honored tradition in Westchester. We're looking for sponsors in 2026-2027! If you have a spare bedroom available to host an Israeli high school grad for 3-5 months, and a desire to introduce Israeli culture to your family, please consider it.

For more information, contact Karen Avneri at: 917-355-4359 or KarenA@jafi.org

Please see the video!

This Month in Jewish History

Adolf Eichmann, the Gestapo chief in charge of implementing the Final Solution, was executed in Israel on May 31, 1962 after he was tried and convicted of crimes against humanity. A one-time traveling salesman who joined the Nazi Party in 1932, Eichmann was put in charge of resolving the "Jewish Question" --- acquiring a smattering of Hebrew and Yiddish and even visiting Palestine in 1937 to explore the possibilities of forced Jewish emigration. Mossad agents captured him in Argentina. Observing him during the trial, the author Hannah Arendt famously described Eichmann as embodying the “banality of evil.”
