Meet Our Honorees

We are thrilled to be honoring five remarkable individuals at our 2025 Gala. Their dedication to the Pelham Jewish Center and the Westchester community is exemplary. Enjoy their stories:

PJC Book Group

On Monday, May 19th, the PJC Book Group will be discussing "Thirteen Days in September" by Lawrence Wright.

In September 1978, three world leaders met at Camp David to broker a peace agreement between Israel and Egypt. During the thirteen-day conference, both attempted to walk away multiple times. Yet, by the end, a treaty had been forged — one that has quietly stood for more than three decades, proving that peace in the Middle East is possible.

Host a Shinshin

Each year, our Learning Center has the opportunity to learn from a young Israeli who helps create a living bridge between the PJC and Israel.

Would you consider hosting a shinshin in your home this fall or spring? Reach out our LC Director Ana Turkienicz.

Our shinshinim are very low maintenance. They each have their own car and health insurance. They also volunteer from morning to evening most days of the week. If a host family is traveling, then we place the shinshin with a temporary host family during that time. It is an incredible opportunity for any family that has an extra bedroom to bring some Israeli culture into their home for four to five months. They most likely will gain an extended family in Israel and a friendship that will last a lifetime.
