Pine Lane Crew,
We have completed one full week of uninterrupted full in-person learning. Your children are doing a phenomenal job using their superpowers of mask-wearing, hand washing, and social distancing. And thank you all for screening at home for illness. All of these steps will help us maintain consistency in instruction throughout this quarter. Also, thank you for your cooperation during parent pick up. This process has been much smoother than we anticipated.
Tonight, parent pick-up QR codes were sent home with your child/ren today. The QR pick up process will be launched Monday, October 26th. It is essential that whoever picks up your child/ren has the QR code to be able to pick up from the parent pick-up line, the other option is parking in the parent parking lot (south or north) and checking your child/ren out at the office. If you have multiple children, the QR code went home with your youngest child. If your child did not bring a QR code home then you have not filled out the parent pick up form. Please fill out the Parent pick-up form here if you have not already done so.
As we move into this quarter and begin to plan for January, we need your help again. Today you received communication from DCSD Communications regarding what you would like for your child for 2nd semester. Families who wish to change their child’s learning preference (i.e. Hybrid/In-Person to eLearning or vice versa) for the second semester can do so between Friday, October 23 and Sunday, November 1 in the EngagED Portal. Complete directions can be found here.
Changes to learning preferences will become effective in January 2021 and continue through the end of the 2020-2021 school year.
The deadline to make changes is Sunday, November 1 at 11:59 p.m.
We need this information as soon as possible in order to assess our staffing levels at Pine Lane and in eLearning to ensure that we are able to support our students. The sooner we have this information the better we will be able to plan. When you receive this communication please complete the survey as quickly as you can. Also, note that not filling out will be interpreted that you are happy with your child’s current placement.
I just like to send a huge thank you to our PTO for their continued efforts to support our school, create community, and contribute to our mission to empower excellence in character, achievement, and contribution to a better world. You all have helped our staff feel loved and cared for throughout the start of the year. We are so grateful!
Don’t forget we are holding a COVID Style Fall Festival. We are holding a virtual pumpkin decorating contest and a Drive thru BOO! Encourage your child to decorate, carve, or a draw a pumpkin and submit a picture here for judging: PLE Pumpkin Decorating Extravaganza Entries. Also, get everyone dressed up in their costumes, load the car, and drive through the bus loop for our reverse trunk or treat Drive thru BOO! Show off your costumes and check out your teachers costumes. This event will take place from 5:30-7:00 pm. We hope to see you then!
We are also in the middle of our first fundraiser. Due to the added stress that COVID has placed on our households and the inability for students to peddle goods in the neighborhood, we have decided on a different approach. Please check out our PTO hosted “What? Alternative Fundraiser?!” We will be taking straight donations rather than running a traditional fundraiser. These funds will go directly toward technology purchases. We are particularly targeting our goal to be fully 1:1 with devices k-6. Our current situation has increased the importance of ensuring our students can be connected to school at home. We are currently 1:1 in grades 2-6 with Chromebooks and need about $30,000 to become fully 1:1 in grade K-1 with Ipads. Any excess funds will be put toward installing turf on the south playground. Please share this fundraiser with your friends and family and thank you for your support!
We hope you have a wonderful weekend and be sure to stay safe and warm!
