PLE Crew,

It is hard to believe we are already to Fall Break. Our staff has worked hard and is ready to welcome full classes back to school on October 19th.  We will continue to use hand-washing, masks, cohort separation, and frequent disinfecting of all flat surfaces and touchpoints as mitigating factors.  With CARES dollars, we have also been able to attain additional HEPA Air Purifiers for specials classrooms and smaller offices, additional plexiglass as a physical barrier, individual class recess equipment, and additional supplies to maintain the cleanliness of the building and adjust existing processes for cohorting and better social distancing.  Please remember that as we come back to full in-person learning we will not be able to maintain physical distancing inside the classroom.  We will be able to maintain distance between all cohorts.  A cohort will now be defined as your child’s class, consider this about 24 students.

I’d like to pause and celebrate a real success for our school that reflects our students’ efforts, our teacher persistence, and your amazing support of Pine Lane and your children’s education.  Three times a year we complete an IReady diagnostic assessment.  This data helps us gauge how we are doing and tailor instruction for the remainder of the year.  As a whole school, we have not experienced the COVID slide that we may have expected. Per the iReady assessment, our students have continued to perform similarly to previous years. We are excited to take this foundation and continue to empower academic growth in our students.  I am so proud of the perseverance that they have demonstrated over the past 7 months and I can’t wait to see where they go now that we will all be back together.

Here is our school-wide data for this fall compared to last year at the same time.  I will publish our results in January and June to keep you informed of our progress. If you want more specific details on your child’s results, you may contact your child’s teacher. Thank you for your partnership in helping maximize growth for each one of our students.
Lastly,  please remember the following dates.  On October 30th we will be holding our annual Fall Festival.  Our PTO is working diligently to make this a fun and safe celebration.  This will include our Drive-Thru Boo! (a reverse Trunk or Treat) and a Pumpkin Decorating/Carving contest.  We hope that this will be an enjoyable event for your entire family and a blessing to our whole community.  Parent/Teacher Conferences are now scheduled for the week of November 17th and 19th.  These will be held virtually.  Please mark your calendars and watch for conference sign-ups from your child’s teacher as we return from break.

We wish you all a safe and wonderful fall break. We look forward to seeing you all back on October 19th.  Those of our Crew in eLearning for this semester, we miss you, and don’t forget you are still part of our Crew!
