Dear Parent Crew,

Benjamin Franklin, one of our nations founding fathers said, “Change is the only constant in life. Ones ability to adapt to those changes will determine your success in life.” So far this year, Franklin’s wisdom has never been more true. Yesterday, you should have received DCSD communication regarding elementary schools’ returning to 5 days of in-person learning starting after Fall Break on Monday, October 19th. Also, please note the calendar change, on October 8th & 9th your child will be working on assignments at homes. Our staff will not be delivering in-real time virtual instruction those days as they will be preparing for this change. These two days will be considered “Independent Learning from Home.”

As we grow closer to October 19th, I want to draw your attention again to our dismissal process. This has continued to get smoother and smoother. A huge thank you to our traffic team and you all for your patience and collaboration! Here is our current process for your review: PLE Traffic and Video Tutorial. Also, please share with anyone you have regularly pick up your child.

If our patterns remain the the same, we anticipate about 420 students being picked up and about 150 being bused. This is about 200 more students being Picked Up than last year. We have 15 buses that are currently serving our Pine Lane community. Per current health guidelines, buses are allowed to carry 26 students. For Pine Lane this is a total of 390 seats for students.

In light of this, I would encourage you to reconsider the use of busing as a means to get your child to and from school or work with neighbors and friends for viable carpools. This increase of traffic at 4pm will be significant and unprecedented (Yep. We’ve heard that word a lot.) If you are interested in the busing option please visit the Transportation website and sign up for a bus pass. If you have questions about stops or whether your child can ride the bus you can also use Let’s Talk.

Lastly, do not forget that we will be holding our first Virtual Specials Expo on Tuesday, October 6th, and Thursday, October 8th sessions will be held a 6 pm and 7 pm. Our specials teachers will highlight their specific discipline and their desired contribution to your child’s educations through out the K-6 program. We encourage you and your child to participate.

We will see you all on Monday!
