PLEASE HELP US!

Dear Friends,

Our Charity founder Julia, is in China right now at the horrific Yulin Dog Meat festival. In the stifling heat, she is witnessing distressing scenes at every corner.

We desperately need funds to help us save more lives and to raise awareness. Please could all our supporters share our stories from our social media platforms, we really need your help.

We have been rescuing as many dogs as we can but need donations to save as many as we can

Personal message from Julia below

'It seems like a lifetime since I first visited the Yulin dog meat festival, and little has changed. The vendors are still on the street smiling as they chop up innocent dogs, the trucks packed with dehydrated stolen pets continue to roll in, and the gruesome backyard hoarding facilities operate without impunity.

What has changed is me. When I first came in 2011, I was horrified but had hoped the dog meat trade would end. Now, after years of campaigning and false promises, all I see is suffering and despair, including amongst the few Chinese rescuers like our own Mr Zhao, who are finding it increasingly hard to cope.

Of course, petitions are still floating around, but most come from large organisations that have never set foot in Yulin. Just like the butchers who make money from the poor dogs and cats, so do the corporations with their fundraisers full of empty promises.

Brits can no longer be bothered to take to the streets, having moved on from the subject, and the media who once descended on this bustling city to get scoops of crying people trying to save dogs are apathetic and say this heinous event is not the right time for coverage.

It has been over a decade since I worked on the grounds and saw the brutality toward our sentient beings throughout China and Asia. Just yesterday, before taking the 17-hour train down, we rescued a few souls from a dog meat market near the Beijing airport. That’s a city which claims to be different. It’s not.

Contrary to popular belief, there are many breeding farms in neighbouring villages around Yulin, and newborn puppies are thrown to hungry dogs to fatten them.

Security is also very tight, and I am tracked and followed everywhere I go ( as a foreigner). It’s better that way as the worst I risk is to be deported. Chinese nationals who bravely take a stand have it harder.

I want to meet officials in Yulin. Two women, in fact, now control much of what happens in the city. They don't care if we beg, plead, or shout. But we will try. I shall try to document what we see so you can follow some of my journey. And, of course, rescue how we can.

You read this with compassion but from the comfort of your homes, and I know many of you feel despair. The most tangible way to help us is with a donation so we can actually make a difference and share our news far and wide.

This practice started from greed and continues because of apathy, which comes from the West. We are, therefore, all complicit in the suffering, and it will only end when we collectively make it end.'
