Dear EC Community,

We are aware of the challenges some of you are experiencing during drop off and pick up times. Please take the time to read this entire email which outlines our Traffic Safety Policy to facilitate a smoother before and after school experience for everyone.

Driveway Entry: Use Both Lanes
The two entry lanes into our campus are marked with a solid white line. White plastic lane dividers will be added by our Facilities Team soon. For those turning right from 228th into campus, please remain in the right-hand lane until the lanes merge into one. Drivers in the left lane, please be courteous and allow people to merge into the traffic flow – alternating one after another.

Please Be Courteous
Always pull to the curb lane when dropping off or picking up students. The inner lane around the flagpole circle must be kept clear at all times. Do not block the lane trying to move towards the curb.

Please drive slowly and carefully and be aware of the foot traffic around you. For everyone’s safety and to keep traffic flowing, we ask that drivers remain in the vehicle during drop-off and pick-up times and that all students exit the vehicle on the curbside only.

Curbside Pick-Up
If space is available around the outer traffic circle, you may wait for your student there. The inner lane must be kept clear at all times. No stopping or waiting. If space is not available, we ask you to pull into one of the parking lots and park in a designated spot to wait for your student to walk to you. Our Green Team thanks you for turning your vehicle off while waiting.

No Parking in Reserved Parking Spots – No Exceptions
The parking spots in the first row of the North parking lot (see diagram below) marked with signs are reserved 24/7 for the individuals and families who purchased these spots at the auction. No parking is allowed in these spots at any time except by the named individuals. Unauthorized vehicles are subject to ticketing, towing and impound at the owner’s expense.

Do Not Block Driveways and Parking Lot Entrances
Please keep all driveways clear. Please do not wait or park in areas where you are blocking an entrance into the parking lot and impeding the traffic flow.

Students Must Use Designated Crosswalks
Students must use the marked crosswalks at all times. Students are not allowed to walk between cars to meet a car in the inner lane around the traffic circle. Please be mindful of students crossing at all crosswalks.

No Left Turns During Peak Hours
Peak hours are 7:30 - 9 a.m. and 2:30 - 3:30 p.m. No left turns are allowed (either into or out of the parking lots) during peak hours. Only right-hand turns are permitted when exiting or entering parking lots (see diagram below). While this may take a few seconds longer in some cases, it keeps the overall flow of traffic moving more smoothly and helps minimize backups for everyone. Cones will be positioned to block left turns during peak hours.

North Parking Lot
North parking lot drivers arriving during peak hours must proceed straight past both parking lots, drive around the flagpole traffic circle in the inside lane and then turn right into the North parking lot. No left turns are allowed during peak hours (see diagram below). At the end of the school day, vehicles can exit the North parking lot with a right-hand turn.

South Parking Lot
South parking lot drivers must enter the parking lot at the first right. To exit the South parking lot during peak hours, all drivers must make a right turn out of the parking lot and drive around the inside lane of the flagpole traffic circle to exit campus. No left turns are allowed during peak hours (see diagram below).

Student Parking
Students may park in either the North or South lot. All students who wish to park at school must register their car and submit the permit fee to be awarded a parking spot. If you have questions about parking permits, please contact Senior Accountant Mr. Rice via email or at 425-295-3027.

Visitor Parking Spaces (South Lot)
All visitors, including parents, have spots assigned for them in the South lot. Please register your car at the Front Desk upon entry to the school. Anyone parked illegally in the Visitor parking area during the day will be subject to fines.

Follow the Instructions of Our Volunteer Traffic Guides
At certain times of day, members of our staff, faculty and volunteers will serve as traffic guides to help keep traffic moving smoothly and safely. Please be respectful of their instructions—they are working to help everyone have a safe and timely trip.

Reminder: Vehicles Should Not Enter or Cross the Bridge
Please remember that parents, students, athletes and coaches should never drive across the vehicle bridge unless a parking spot has been reserved for their use in advance. Visitor parking is reserved in the South lot. Parking near the school building is reserved for visitors to campus such as prospective families, donors and vendors. ADA parking must be utilized only by vehicles with a state-issued ADA placard or license plate.

Only Park in Designated Areas
Parking anywhere on campus other than a lined parking spot is prohibited. Many of our driving areas are designated as fire lanes and stopping in these areas is not allowed, even if you stay inside your vehicle. Improperly parked vehicles are subject to ticketing, towing and impound at the owner’s expense.

Cell Phone Usage
In the state of Washington, it is against the law to hold your cell phone while you are driving. For the safety of our community, please respect the cell phone law on our campus, and wait to use your phone until you bring your vehicle to a complete stop. Please give your full attention to vehicle and student traffic during drop off and pickup times. Thank you!
