Emerging Buyer’s Market Lifts Home Sales in May
For the first time in two months, existing-home sales rose in May as consumers rushed to take advantage of lower mortgage rates and greater inventory. Total existing-home sales—completed transactions including single-family homes, townhomes, condos, and co-ops—jumped 2.5% month over month in May, reaching a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.34 million, NAR reported recently. All four major regions of the U.S. saw an increase in sales last month, led by the Northeast.

Beat Facebook at Its Own Algorithm Game
Facebook’s aim to become a “digital living room,” making users’ networks smaller and more private, may require a change in your social media strategy to remain visible to current and prospective clients online. It will take time to know the full impact of the social network’s latest shift, announced in March, which prioritizes private messaging and Facebook groups over other content. But the intent, like other recent Facebook changes, is to limit users’ exposure to posts generated outside their inner circles. That makes it harder to reach audiences organically.

Freddie Mac Debuts Remodeling Loan for Fixer-Upper Buyers
As homes age, more homeowners are looking to remodeling to spruce up their properties. Of the nation’s stock of 137 million units, nearly 80%
are at least 20 years old, and 40% are at least
50 years old. Freddie Mac says its new
mortgage product is to help home buyers
finance or refinance fixer-uppers. Eligible
buyers will be able to finance the purchase of
their home and the cost of renovations into
a single-close mortgage.
