Your Answer to Zillow's "Instant Offers "
Last week, Zillow introduced its "Instant Offers" platform in two test markets, Las Vegas, Nevada and Orlando, Florida.  The platform enables sellers to receive and compare cash offers from selected investors, as well as obtain a CMA from one of Zillow's paying customers, a Zillow Premier Agent.

It remains to be seen whether Zillow will be successful enough to expand Instant Offers to more markets. If it does, the promise of a quick sale may capture some consumers' attention. But if past performance is any indicator, sellers will continue to gravitate your way. The NAR 2016 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers showed that 89% of sellers worked with a real estate professional to sell their homes.

Hackers Breach DocuSign Emails email hack
E-signature company DocuSign says it experienced a temporary breach of a
non-core email system, resulting in the release of email addresses that could be used for phishing schemes.

The company's core eSignature product, which provides a secure environment for signing documents, including for real estate transactions, was not part of the breach and remains secure.

The system breach involved only email addressees, the company said. No names, physical addresses, passwords, social security numbers, credit card data, or other information was accessed.

The company advises its customers to protect against phishing schemes as a result of the breach by deleting any emails with these subject lines:
  • "Completed: [domain name] - Wire transfer for recipient-name Document Ready for Signature"
  • "Completed [domain name/email address] - Accounting Invoice [Number] Document Ready for Signature"

NAR suggests these simple guidelines for helping your clients navigate this competitive market:
  • Identify home wants vs. needs
  • Stick to the budget
  • Prepare clients to make decisions quickly
  • Make bids competitive
