Summer ScurryThe Summer Scurry is back this year and will take place this coming Saturday, August 10th in suburban Cleveland (Independence), Ohio. This year the event will honor the memory of our founder, Lisa Luciano, who passed away last year.

Also this weekend, the Second Annual Appendix Cancer Awareness 5k Walk/Run is taking place Sunday, August 11th in Newark, Delaware.

And finally one of our favorites, the PMP Pub Crawl, is back for the fourth consecutive year in New Haven, Connecticut on Saturday, September 7th.

We hope to see you this summer at one of these fun-filled events! If you can't make any of them, contact us about starting your own - get creative!

Finally, save the date and keep an eye out for more information on this year's symposium at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center on November 13th.

Recap of Recent Events
7th Annual Father's Day PMP Cancer Walk The 7th Annual Father's Day PMP Cancer Walk (Doing it for Dutch, in remembrance of Dutch Culbertson) took place once again outside of Philadelphia and raised over $40,000 to fund PMP research and education.

Derek Corner rocked the house for the second consecutive year at his "DC Rocks PMP" event on May 19th and raised nearly $6,000 for PMPRF (probably the coolest event we have!).

Tressa and Drew ran the Pittsburgh Half-Marathon on May 5th to honor the memory of their father, founding PMPRF board member Mike Dvorsky. They raised an amazing $5,000 in their inaugural effort.

Thank you to everyone who coordinated and participated in these wonderful events, we are absolutely thrilled with the results and we are committed to
using the funds raised to make a difference in the fight against these diseases!
Medical Education Sponsorship and Scholarships

PMPMPRF at Mercy MedicalPRF was proud to be a Gold Sponsor of the "Peritoneal Dissemination of Cancer: Present Treatment, Guidelines and Controversies" medical education course that took place June 20-21st at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, MD.

The course was led by Dr. Paul Sugarbaker and Dr. Armando Sardi, and consisted of presentations by many of the leading specialists in the treatment of PMP and peritoneal surface malignancies associated with other cancers such as ovarian, colorectal and pancreatic cancers.

The highlight of the session was an interactive, live HIPEC surgery performed by PMPRF Advisory Board member Dr. Sardi. More than one of the specialists in attendance commented that it was "amazing" to watch and participate.

PMPRF also provided scholarships to eight physicians from the U.S. and abroad so that they could participate in this CME session.
