As 2023 draws to a close, PNA looks back on a year marked by transformative leadership, unwavering advocacy and steadfast support for our members. The association navigated challenges and seized opportunities, reinforcing our commitment to the thriving future of our members’ news media organizations.

The efforts of three PNA members highlight how newspapers can strengthen their ties to the community through leadership, goodwill and compassion.

New partnership with Spotlight PA to provide Lehigh Valley, Berks County with more investigative and public-service journalism

On Dec. 12, Spotlight PA announced an expansion to provide greater public access to journalism in Berks County and the Lehigh Valley via a new partnership with 69 News and WFMZ.com.

PNA TEAM SPOTLIGHT

Jack Fardo, senior marketing and recruitment strategist

Jack Fardo is the newest member of the Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association team. He comes to us by way of McClatchy and a previous tenure at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.


Jack will handle Recruitology, MANSI Media’s recruitment placement service to help companies large and small find the right employees.


Jack has been married for 35 years to Kristina. They are parents to adult children Nicholas and Emily. He is an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and enjoys photography, using the city of Pittsburgh as his canvas. The staff eagerly anticipates the next potluck lunch so Jack can treat everyone to his specialty dessert, Martha Stewart apple pie. Welcome Jack!

Final Reminder: Foundation Fellows Grants

Due Dec. 31


The PNA Foundation Fellows Fund for the Future has set aside money for journalism grants to be used by news companies to start new initiatives or enhance current projects. Grant funds can be used for hiring correspondents, purchasing equipment and providing staff training as well as other project expenses.
