Pittsburgh media partnership


On Jan. 24, PNA President and CEO Bill Cotter and Director of Sales and Strategic Partnerships John Derr attended the “Restoring the Fourth Estate” event to discuss the Next Generation Newsroom that will fill both gaps in local journalism and create career pathways for young journalists to stay in Pittsburgh. 

Rep. Robert Freeman honored with Advocate of the Year award


The Pennsylvania NewsMedia Association presented its 2023 Advocate of the Year award Monday to state Rep. Robert L. Freeman (R-Northampton) for his “dedicated leadership and outstanding advocacy for the Pennsylvania news media industry.”

Catie Gavenonis, legislative counsel

Catie Gavenonis has served as PNA’s legislative counsel since 2019 and loves her work advocating for members before the General Assembly.


When not working or caring for her active and busy 9-year-old twins, Catie loves to paint, run, do barre and yoga, and read. You can find her at any East Coast barrier island beach at any time of year, preferably crabbing or paddleboarding. She’s never met an oyster she didn’t love. Catie and her husband, Jason – who is her college sweetheart – will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary this summer, a mere nine days after their twins’ 10th birthday.
