Breakthrough Prayer Initiative Training
Breakthrough Prayer Initiative Training
coming to the
2023 PNK Education Day
Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023
First Presbyterian Church, Salina

The Rev. Sue Nilson Kibbey will be joining us as our guest presenter with her Breakthrough Prayer Initiative program:

Every church recognizes prayer as important. But what happens when a congregation unites to pray collectively and consistently for God to break through in new and miraculous ways? You can launch your congregation into the kind of churchwide breakthrough prayer initiative that fuels the atmosphere of possibility, and the entire focus begins to shift from inward to up-and-outward. It's easier than you think--and the results will make spiritual history right in your own community and beyond.

Breakthrough prayer is an additive prayer component that can be incorporated into what already happens in the daily life of your congregation--and this workshop will equip you, plus it will provide many stories, creative practical examples and ideas from other congregations across the country that have done so with innovation and miraculous impact. Additionally, learn how you can utilize breakthrough prayer through key aspects of your weekly worship service, and develop your church's heart to reach its neighborhood with the message and love of Christ.
Implementation of this training will be most effective when you bring it back to your own congregation if you bring a team consisting of the pastor plus at least five of your members (or as many as possible). Start recruiting a team for your congregation now!

Note:  OUR OWN REV. K.O. NOONOO AND THE TOPEKA WESTMINSTER CONGREGATION ALREADY HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SHIFT PRAYER IS BRINGING TO THEIR CONGREGATIONAL LIFE. Join us for this important opportunity!
Your Presbyterian Women and the Resource Center are excited to announce this year's PW Reading list! There are now several options for you to check out...you can check out the hard copy of the book from the Resource Center directly, or you can access many of the books in the new PNKS Digital Library. Many books are available as either an eBook or an Audiobook.

If you would like to check out a hard copy, or get access to the digital library, email Amanda in the Resource Center at alittell@pnks.org, or call 1-877-777-5310 or 785-825-1655.
Good News
First/Lawrence is Earth Care Congregation
First Presbyterian Church was certified as an Earth Care Congregation by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s Presbyterian Hunger Program through February 2024. The Earth Care Congregation certification is designed to recognize churches that make the commitment to take seriously God’s charge to “till and keep” the garden.

This status speaks to the serious commitment that First Presbyterian Church of Lawrence has made to care for God’s earth. To become an Earth Care Congregation, this congregation affirmed an Earth Care Pledge to integrate environmental practices and thinking into their worship, education, facilities, and outreach.

Potwin Presbyterian Church's Mission and Ministry Continues
In case you haven't seen -- Potwin Presbyterian Church in Topeka made the news!
This small congregation has BIG mission to the Potwin neighborhood and after much prayer and discernment made the decision to sell their building so they could continue the mission and ministry they believe God is calling them to do -- right there in their neighborhood.

Creative Worship with Sanctified Art
Pastoral Leadership Revitalization (PLR), a Lilly Endowment grant in partnership with OPSF that seeks to support isolated and first call ministers in PC(USA) congregations throughout Middle America, is excited to announce the Kansas-Missouri Regional Chapter PLR Retreat, themed CREATIVE WORSHIP WITH SANCTIFIED ART!

Rev. Anna Strickland, operations support, and content creator for Sanctified Art will be our workshop and worship leader for the week. Anna loves getting her hands dirty with paint, charcoal, gardening soil, flour, and sugar, watching the raw materials take on a new life which is greater than the sum of its parts. Anna feels called to creative ministry, both ministry involving the arts and ministry done in new ways and is excited to join us this September at Heartland Retreat Center right outside Kansas City, Missouri.

In addition to having fantastic educational resources with ideas you can use in your own worship setting, the Kansas-Missouri PLR Retreat provides opportunities for personal spiritual renewal and growth; (re-) connection to God, other clergy, and yourself; and even an on sight Spiritual Director for 1:1 sessions.

While PLR participants will have priority registration, this retreat will open to clergy outside of PLR participants. Mark your calendars and save the date for September 18-21.
