New 2025-2027 Books of Order Preorder

Part II of the Constitution of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). The Book of Order is an important reference for our church leadership. It contains the Foundations of Presbyterian Polity, the Form of Government, the Directory for Worship, and the Church Discipline.

The Presbytery Office will place a bulk order of hard copies of the Book of Order.  There will also be an interactive pdf and an updated Annotated Book of Order available on the pcusa.org website at https://pcusa.org/resources/resource-hub by July 4, 2025.

Order your copy or copies for your session/church leaders from the Presbytery Office (email office@pnks.org or call 785-825-1654 ) to receive a volume discount and to save on shipping. The volume discount will be $9.00 for each book.

Your deadline for ordering is June 20th, 2025. Download and complete the order form below and send it to the Presbytery office with your payment.  You can also send the payment via the GIVE NOW button on the Presbytery's website.

Order Your Planning Calendars Now

It is that time again to pre-order the 2025-2026 Planning Calendars.

Calendar pages begin with September 2025 and end with December 2026.

Your deadline for ordering is July 11, 2025. Download and complete the order form below and send it to the Presbytery office with your payment.  You can also email your order to me, Gail at office@pnks.org, sending the payment by mail or via the GIVE NOW button on the Presbytery's website.

Church Finance Books for Your Church/Treasurer for Only $25

If you attended the May Presbytery Meeting, you would have had the chance to preview 3 new books that are available in our Presbytery Resource Center:  The Volunteer's Audit Guide for Churches and Other Non-Profits,  The Church Treasurer's Manual, and A Handbook for Church Treasurers all written by the Rev. Edd Breeden, Presbyterian Pastor with over 35 years of parish ministry.

You can purchase all 3 of these books on your own for around $57 plus shipping.

HOWEVER, due to the fact that the Presbytery Office receives numerous questions about church finances from our congregations, the Finance Committee has approved placing a bulk order.  We are offering a set of these 3 books to your treasurer/congregation at a cost to the church of only $25. The Presbytery will pay the rest of the cost plus shipping to the Presbytery Office (see the order form for information about how you get your books after they are received in the Presbytery Office).

Your deadline for ordering is July 11, 2025. Download and complete the order form below and send it to the Presbytery office with your payment.  You can also send the payment via the GIVE NOW button on the Presbytery's website.

News from Our Congregations

A Weekend with Bruce Reyes-Chow

We’re excited to welcome Bruce Reyes-Chow to First Presbyterian Church in Salina on Saturday, June 28th for a morning workshop centered around the inspiring theme, “Everything Good about God Is True.”

This workshop is free and open to all, and we would love for you—and members of your church community—to attend. It will be a meaningful time of learning, reflection, and connection.

To help us prepare properly (and ensure there are enough snacks for everyone!), please let us know if you plan to join us. Your RSVP will help us set up the space accordingly and extend warm hospitality to all.

We hope to see many of you there as we explore this powerful message together!

Happy 136th Birthday, Potwin

In 1887, Rev. Neill D. Johnson of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church arrived in Topeka to establish a new congregation. Starting with a small group of 10 individuals, they purchased land at Huntoon and Polk Streets and officially organized as the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Topeka by May 1889. As the church grew, they realized their neighborhood was already well-served by other churches, prompting a move in 1901 to a more underserved area near what is now Potwin, Kenwood, and Ward Meade. The church relocated to a small white building at 5th and West Streets and was renamed Potwin Presbyterian Church.

Potwin Presbyterian Church has evolved significantly since the 1950s but has remained committed to its foundational mission of community service and outreach. Despite facing recent challenges, Potwin continues to be a vital presence in its community. The congregation remains dedicated to being a beacon of hope and service from their corner of the Potwin neighborhood.
