Half Price Offer for Advent Bundle

The PNKS Resource Center has again approved a 1/2 price offer to our congregations for this year's Advent Bundle from A Sanctified Art. This year's theme, Until the Dawn: Actions for the Work of Advent places us right in the tension of Advent—Christ is born, God is here, and yet, the world is not as it should be. The theme focuses on the actions we can take as we move through the night with hope for tomorrow. Until the dawn, we will cry out, start somewhere, speak up, take courage, build up, and choose joy. These actions will help us resist despair and put our prayers in motion until the day when God’s love reigns and all the earth echoes shalom.

2026 Legacy Fund Grants Awarded to Seven PNK Congregations

The PNK Finance Committee reports approval of applications from 7 PNK Congregations resulting in the following grants awarded for 2026:

• $4,500 to the First Presbyterian Church of Colby towards the deteriorating and dangerous parking area and creating a new handicap accessible ramp in order to create safer and accessible parking for all who attend the many activities that take place for the congregation and for the community in their building.
• $4,618 to the First Presbyterian Church of Hays to establish a video recording and live streaming capability to restore connection to their homebound members and expand reach to new and younger audiences as they adapt their ministry to meet people where they are.
• $5,000 to the Sunrise Presbyterian Church of Salina for their CASTLE project-a summer academic program for children who have been in K through 5^th grade. During enrollment for the 2026 program, all 100 openings filled up in less than 30 minutes.
• $5,000 to Second Presbyterian Church of Topeka to purchase and install two small Heat/AC units in order to increase safety and efficiency and realize substantial savings.
• $5,000 to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church of Topeka to replace an air conditioner that was vandalized during the summer of 2025. Once repaired this air conditioner will again cool the church office, pastor’s office, classrooms, bathrooms, and a large open area.
• $5,000 to First Presbyterian Church of Wamego for the Fighting Food Insecurity in Wamego mission through 1) assembling and providing nutritious whole-meal kits through the Faith Market (food pantry) and 2) continuously stocking the Blessing Box located in front of the church.
• $4,500 to the First United Presbyterian Church of Washington for the Friendly Corners project – a cooperative project of the churches in Washington and the Ministerial Alliance. The project is to establish this “Friendly Corners” building as a multipurpose resource area for mission and ministry to the community.

2025 Top Ten Mission Giving Congregations

The Finance Committee announced the top ten per member mission giving congregations for 2025 as follows:

#10 - West Side Presbyterian Church, Lawrence at $75.47/person for a total of $4,000

#9 - Wakarusa Presbyterian Church at $75.76/person for a total of $5,000

#8 - First Presbyterian Church, Colby at $77.16/person for a total of $2,700.75

#7 - First Presbyterian Church, Concordia at $82.35/person for a total of $4,200

#6 - First Presbyterian Church, Cottonwood Falls at $83.33/person for a total of $2,500

#5 - Sunrise Presbyterian Church, Salina at $85.30/person for a total of $11,443

#4 - Oak Hill Presbyterian Church at $93.75/person for a total of $3,000

#3 - WaKeeney Presbyterian Church at $100/person for a total of $2,000

#2 - First Presbyterian Church, Ellsworth at $101.01/person for a total of $30,000

#1 - First Presbyterian Church, Salina at $123.46/person for a total of $40,000

The Shared Mission Giving of all of our congregations helps to fund the mission and ministry of the General Assembly, Synod of Mid-America and the Presbytery of Northern Kansas. A total of 84% of these gifts remain in the Presbytery to fund the support and mission and ministry with and to the 52 congregations in our region. The Finance Committee wishes to thank all of our congregations for the continued support of our connectional mission and ministry as we all work together to do so much more than any one of us could do on our own.  

Upcoming Events

The Rural Ideas Conference is a national, ecumenical conference which focuses on rural congregations. We invite pastors, leaders, and members from your church to join us at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, AR.

There is no cost to attend the conference. We offer free lodging in the new campus dorms. You are welcome to pay for your lodging in a hotel room instead.

Pastoral Care Course Offered

The next course coming up in the PNK Lay Ministry Program will be the Pastoral Care Course.

This 6 session course will begin on Saturday, June 27th with an IN PERSON Session at First Presbyterian Church in Salina from 10:00am to 2:00pm with lunch provided. Subsequent sessions will take place on Monday evenings from 6:00pm to 9:00pm via Zoom.

Spots are saved for anyone enrolled in the CLP program and anyone that has completed the APS program. Furthermore, this will be an excellent course for lay leaders providing visitation in their own congregations.

The cost is $300 for this course but the first 10 to register will receive a $100 scholarship from PNK - leaving their registration fee at $200. REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS Wednesday, June 15th.

Christmas Joy Offering Now Supports Our Young People

Special Offerings is committed to supporting the efforts of our young people as they continue to be present and future leaders of the Church. As you know, the 226th General Assembly (2024) sunset the Pentecost Offering and moved the causes it supported under the umbrella of the Christmas Joy Offering.

The Christmas Joy Offering supports children at risk, youth and young adults, leadership development for people of color, Presbyterian-related schools and colleges equipping communities of color, and servants of the church in need through the Board of Pensions.
