2022 | Week 46

52 Hikes | 52 Homes

"Be present in all things, and thankful for all things."

This is WEEK at a GLANCE - 52 weeks of my PNW adventures!

Join me as I journey through life on a mission to make a difference, one step at a time, one week at a time. How was your week? Here's a glance at mine...

Hikes.

This week it snowed, a lot. So it seemed appropriate to visit snow lake before winter truly arrives. This trail is always stunning, a PNW classic; however, it is not open year-round. During the winter months, this trail is closed and extremely dangerous as there are several avalanche chutes so WTA recommends that hikers do not explore here until spring. In addition, this trail was closed all summer for trail maintenance so, between my busy work schedule and closures, this week was the ideal time to go for an adventure here! It was the perfect day. There was not a cloud in the sky... the sun was out, but the air was freezing - making the snow below foot feel like baking powder. Usually, our snow is very wet so it was fun to see and feel a different texture. And at the lake, there were icicles that looked like huge raindrops that were like nothing I had ever seen! Mother nature is absolutely unbelievable and I am grateful for the opportunity to hike every week and enjoy beautiful places like this.

"Caffe Lusso Coffee Roasters was launched in the year 2000 to bring elegant and luxurious coffee to the Eastside and greater Puget sound area. Today, we ship our coffee all over the country, 5 days a week. Locally, our coffee is served in some of the highest end coffee bars, restaurants, tech offices and caterers in the area.

Our approach is the time-tested, old fashioned way: Coffees are slowly drum roasted by mindful artisans, making adjustments to the convection air and direct-flame burners throughout the entire process. Some consider us early pioneers in what is now called direct trade:

Purchasing coffee directly from growers and paying them what they ask so that they can have a more sustainable future.

My business goals are simple:

  • Source and roast compelling coffees from growers around the world whom we can build an enduring relationships with.

  • Foster a work environment where people have the opportunity to excel and grow.

  • Provide world-class care, service, training and education to all of our clients to ensure their success.

Additionally, one of my goals is to provide ongoing funding to Kirkland-based Atlas Free. To date, we have been able to give over $125,000.00 in their ongoing global effort to resource and accelerate the fight against human trafficking and sexual slavery. To learn more: www.atlasfree.org.

Lastly, my personal goal in life is to walk with people until they experience the freedom to smile at their future."
