2nd QUARTER VIRTUAL TRAINING MAY 20th SPONSORED BY STANTEC - Registration Is Now Open

Register now for our second quarter virtual training on May 20.

You can register for the full day (0.6 CEUs) $120 member price; or a half day, either morning or afternoon (0.3 CEUs) $60 member price. Registration closes Friday, May 14. 
  • May 20 - Regulatory Rodeo: Will include a 5-year look at RTCR assessments; cover updates to the NSF 61 standards that impact coating systems; updates to the Lead and Copper Rule and routine monitoring; corrosion control treatment and required monitoring; PFAS technologies; cross connection control regulations and a case study of response to a system contamination; using data and machine learning to improve regulatory compliance.

The Eastern Oregon Subsection is rolling out their second virtual short school - three days and four tracks - March 29 - March 31.

Washington Water CEUs - 2.0 approved
Washington Wastewater Maximum CEUs - 2.1 pending

MEMBERSHIP ASKED TO APPROVE NEW SECTION BYLAWS - Via Online Voting

After many months of work by an ad-hoc committee, your Board of Trustees and section members we now have updated Section Bylaws that require member approval. 

Recently approved by the AWWA Executive Committee, approval by our Section Members is the final step prior to implementation. Once approved, our Section Rules of Procedure will be updated over the course of the year to reflect updates in these new bylaws. Both the current set of bylaws and this new update can be found on our Governing Documents page on our website. 

AWWA members are asked to vote online to approve the bylaw update. Polls close April 30. Members will be asked to input their email on record with AWWA and their last name prior to accessing the polls. Click the link to vote today. 
BEING YOUR AUTHENTIC SELF - Presented by the Diversity and Inclusion Committee

Join the PNWS Diversity and Inclusion Committee, for their first hosted event on Thursday, March 25 from 4:30 - 6:30. That evening we will have the opportunity to hear from a variety of panelists who are willing to share their stories and experiences on "being their authentic self" in the workplace and professional organizations. This will then immediately be followed by small breakout groups for discussion.

This event aims to create a space for our PNWS community to connect on topics around Diversity and Inclusion in the effort to meet our committee's mission:  To foster a welcoming and inclusive AWWA culture that champions meaningful institutional and individual change regarding diversity and equity in the water industry.

JOIN WE WALK FOR WATER - A Virtual Fundraiser for AWWA's Water Equation

Our Section has a long history of supporting AWWA's philanthropic efforts. And while this last year has looked and felt very different, our tradition of fundraising must carry on!

PNWS-AWWA is once again participating in "WE Walk," a virtual fundraiser to raise money for the Water Equation. Please join our team or make a donation to support the important work of the Water Equation. Last year our team came in second with just over $5,000 raised. This year we are going for gold with a goal of $6,500.

KING COUNTY SUBSECTION VIRTUAL PAINT NIGHT - Benefitting Water For People

Come join the King County Subsection for a virtual paint night! Paint kits will be mailed to your home and will include all of the materials needed to paint a beautiful winter landscape (shown here) along with an informational video that will be shared during the event.  

This event will take place on Friday, March 26 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm virtually. If you are unable to attend, you can still purchase the paint kit and use it in the future. Paint kits are $45 (includes shipping) with an option to include additional donation to Water for People. 

We've partnered with the local paint shop, Uncorked Canvas, to support their business, and they've also agreed to make a donation to WFP as part of the event.

NOMINATE AN OUTSTANDING YOUNG PROFESSIONAL FOR THE PIONEER AWARD - Nominations Due March 5

The Pioneer Award is presented annually to the young professional exemplifying the most outstanding leadership, technical expertise and dedication to community service. Young professionals can be individuals under the age of 35 or with less than 10 years experience in the industry.

To nominate an outstanding young professional click the link and fill in the Google Form which should only take a few minutes.

PNWS SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE - Applications must be received by March 15

The Section awards seventeen scholarships annually to university and community college students who are completing degree programs in fields of study relevant to future work in the drinking water profession. PNWS members and their families are encouraged to apply.
