You know it's been a busy month when you write "Happy August" for the first time on August 25th. What a month it has been and WOW do we have a lot to celebrate. The Elkhorn Chamber successfully hosted the 14th Annual Elkhorn Corn & Brat Days. We wrapped up the month of July eating corn for breakfast lunch and dinner! Then, with the collaborative effort of the United Way of Walworth County, we also launched DAS Fest USA, welcoming visitors from surrounding counties and states to visit our community. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather. We were amazed by the sponsor support. We had great music, entertainment and activities to enjoy. But the most important aspect that we MUST celebrate, is the effort put forth by the men, women and children who rallied together to share their time with us. The volunteers. We could not be more appreciative to all those who helped facilitate these two major events in our community, and to you we say, "THANK YOU"!
What's next? In less than two weeks we will begin to see Jones buses back in action carting students to school. Following suit will be crockpots full of chili for football games, falling leaves that blanket our front yards, and all you pumpkin spice enthusiasts can come out of hiding. But, before we start the seasonal landslide into fall, we have one major summer activity left to enjoy: The 172nd Walworth County Fair!
It is six special days at the Walworth County Fairgrounds. The scent of cotton candy and fried everything wafts through the air. Joyful screams erupt from the carnival midway while tractor engines roar from the grandstands. Polished belt buckles and cowboy boots enter show arenas to parade a variety of farm favorites, all in pursuit of that 1st place ribbon. The countless 4-H displays and unique vendors indicates one thing: it's fair time!
With the fair being one week away, we have TWO invitations for you.
1.Bring you business to the fair for FREE!
The Elkhorn Chamber hosts a booth in North Hall that we make available to all chamber partners for the week of the fair and we would love for you to join us. Learn more.
2.Volunteer in a beer/wine area!
Just like Elkhorn Ribfest and DAS Fest, there is opportunity for volunteers to serve and earn funds for a nonprofit listed on the volunteer sign-up.
BONUS: Either option gets you through the front gate for free!
Share what your business has to offer, serve beer with your friends or simply come for the cotton candy! There is no wrong way to enjoy the fair!
See you soon!
