POWER Lunch 2018 Begins!

Hey Everyone!   In the past few years, Nexos Comunitarios recognized that the children from Cuncani, an isolated, indigenous community in the Andes of Peru, were suffering from malnutrition and anemia due to extreme poverty and poor access to sufficient foods. Seeing this, we were determined to find a solution. We tackled this problem from 2013 – 2016 by implementing our Lunch Program , which provided five lunches a week for all primary school children of Cuncani. This year, we had a dream to introduce our POWER Lunch program, an improved version of the Lunch Program, with hopes of improving the health and nutritional qualities of the children living in Cuncani.

As of April, 16, 2018, Nexos Comunitarios is proud to announce that this dream is now a reality and that the POWER Lunch Program has officially begun! This achievement not only allows us to provide lunches for all the primary school children in Cuncani, it also includes health education workshops and medical checkups to help us monitor their health conditions.

Thank you for all of the support we received when raising money to support our POWER Lunch program. We are grateful for all the donations, devotion, and words of encouragement we’ve received throughout this process. Through your help at Global Giving, in just one month, we’ve achieved the mountainous challenge of raising over $10,000 USD! Although we may not have reached our ultimate goal of $13,000 USD to support the entire year, we still decided to begin the program with the amount we’ve raised so far.
