ASB Employees Volunteer for United Way Backpack Attack

GLENWOOD, MN – American Solutions for Business partnered with the United Way to contribute to their Backpack Attack initiative, which helps provide weekend meals for area children in need. A group of 27 employees from ASB’s headquarters participated in assembling 600 bags, providing 6 weeks-worth of meals.

“I’m proud to work with a group of people so dedicated to giving back,” said Glenn Miller, ASB’s VP of Business Solutions and United Way board vice president. “The more we invest in our community – especially our area youth – the better environment and future we create. It’s an incredibly worthy cause.”

Not only did employees help assemble, but American Solutions for Business donated much of the food inside the bags.

“Thanks to support from businesses like American Solutions for Business who donate and pack Backpack Attack bags, we are able to continue to serve all students who express a need,” explained Kendall Brickweg, Marketing & Communications Coordinator for the United Way of Douglas & Pope Counties. “Ensuring our children and youth have the food and support they need is so important. Students who aren’t worried about hunger are happier and more engaged!”

Why Mindfulness Is a Must-Have Mental Skill
Malachi Thompson  Guest Writer Entrepreneur

Every business leader faces overwhelm, self-doubt and a hundred other unhelpful habits of mind. Learning to pause them in their tracks puts you back in the pilot's seat.

As leaders in business, there are emotional and mental challenges we experience that our subordinates don't share or appreciate. Making the common but difficult transition from being an excellent technical operator to becoming a middle or more senior manager, usually involves taking on an overwhelming workload.
The learning curve is steep and fast. You can feel as though you're drowning. Just as you feel you're getting the hang of something new, a curve ball gets thrown at you from left field. Demands can change just as quickly as you received the initial directives.           Read More

North American Leadership Conference
Leaders Make Necessary Changes
Turning around a company that has had years of low profits, poor cash flow, and stagnant growth to six years of record breaking profits does not happen by accident. Gary Garfield achieved just this at Bridgestone Americas. Profits grew 500% during his six years as the CEO. In this keynote, Garfield will talk about his journey of leading an iconic brand through explosive growth and profit by changing the focus of the organization, breaking down silos, and changing a tire manufacturer into a marketing company. With a thoughtful approach, NALC attendees will be able to glean takeaways for whatever change their businesses may be facing.

Don't miss Tuesday's opening keynote presentation from Gary Garfield at the PPAI North American Leadership Conference.
