A Message From Our PPAMidwest President......

PPAMidwest Members,

Following the craziness of 2020, heading into 2021 there was still much uncertainty to what the year would have in store for all of us. We were fortunate to be able to hold our Spring and Fall shows, have our Kansas City golf outing, continue online education, introduce a new PhD Award for most engaged members, start a PPAM scholarship, and recently have our in person Holiday parties. The board of PPAM is grateful for your membership and participation in the 2021 events.
It has been a great year and a true honor to serve on the PPAM Board of Directors with so many amazing people. I want to thank Craig Wallace, Meredith Wallace (2018 President), and Kerri Nobrega (2020 President) for their 3+ years serving on our PPAM Board.
I am excited that Mandi Rudd (D – Brand Energy Marketing) will be taking over as the 2022 President. I know Mandi has big plans in store for 2022, stay tuned.
To all of the suppliers who were able to join us and exhibit at either or both of our Spring/Fall shows, your participation is greatly appreciated and I thank you for your time and resources throughout the year.
To our distributor and service provider members, thank you for your membership and for making our in-person events worth the time for each supplier who spent their time and resources to come to a city near you.
This truly is a tight-knit community in both Kansas City and St. Louis. On behalf of the 2021 PPAM Board of Directors, thank you all again for your support in 2021. I hope to see you all again soon and look forward to a prosperous 2022.
Happy Holidays and Happy New Year
Joe Huber
2021 PPAM President

Inaugural PPAMidwest PhD Award Recipients Announced at the 2021 Holiday Parties

The PPAMidwest Board of Directors has added Education as a focus to our strategic plan. In an effort to encourage participation and reward active members, the PPAMidwest PhD (Promo Honors Designee) award program was developed.

Annually, one outstanding member will be rewarded with the PhD Award (three were awarded this year to kick off the program and encourage participation). Throughout the year, points are awarded for activities as detailed on our point structure which you may find here. Each November, the PPAMidwest Board of Directors will review the points standings and determine the recipient, based on the top point earner(s) and a vote, in the event of ties.

PPAMidwest will continue to offer exciting and ongoing educational programs and your participation can lead to awesome recognition!
Congratulations to our inaugural PPAMidwest Education PhD winners Amelia Madl (left), Scott Rogers (right) and Jake Wells (not pictured). Thanks to our official PhD and incoming VP Dennis Oglesby II for making the presentations!

New PANTONE Shade 'Very Peri' Is The Color Of The Year For 2022
Citing the transformative nature of modern times and more anticipated transition ahead, color matching and design authority Pantone has named its Color of the Year for 2022: PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri, an “inquisitive and intriguing” mix of blue and red hues. The particular shade of purple is a new creation by Pantone, marking the first time a new color has been named Color of the Year.
The New Jersey-based company, whose proprietary color palette is widely viewed as the standard in design across a vast array of industries—including the printing and manufacturing germane to the promotional products marketplace—has named colors informed by the times each year since 2000. The decision comes through trend analysis of multiple genres, including entertainment, fashion, art, lifestyle, technology and more.
“As we move into a world of unprecedented change, the selection of PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri brings a novel perspective and vision of the trusted and beloved blue color family,” says Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of Pantone Color Institute. “Encompassing the qualities of the blues, yet at the same time possessing a violet-red undertone, PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri displays a spritely, joyous attitude and dynamic presence that encourages courageous creativity and imaginative expression.”
Pantone Color Institute is the business unit within Pantone that highlights the top seasonal runway colors, selects the Pantone Color of the Year, forecasts global color trends and advises companies on color for product and brand visual identity. Through seasonal trend forecasts, color psychology, and color consulting, Pantone Color Institute partners with global brands to effectively leverage the power, psychology, and emotion of color in their design strategy.
“The Pantone Color of the Year reflects what is taking place in our global culture, expressing what people are looking for that color can hope to answer,” says Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “Creating a new color for the first time in the history of our Pantone Color of the Year educational color program reflects the global innovation and transformation taking place. As society continues to recognize color as a critical form of communication, and a way to express and affect ideas and emotions and engage and connect, the complexity of this new red violet infused blue hue highlights the expansive possibilities that lay before us.”
The company previously named two colors of the year for 2021, PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating.
