May 2019
Board Member Spotlight:
This month's Board Member Spotlight is on Mandi Rudd. Rudd joined the board of directors in January 2019. Rudd owns the distributorship Brand Energy Marketing and has shared the following fun facts:
Q: Choose a movie title for the story of your life
A: "The Life & Times of a Smart Ass Olympic Level Multi-tasker Who Cares & Swears A Lot."

Q: How old is the oldest pair of shoes in your closet?
A: My Birkenstocks from college (1991). They've been recorked and resoled several times so they're not as gross as that sounds.

Q: Can you play any instruments?
A: I can barely play the radio. But I'm amazing at 3 am karaoke.

Q: What’s the strangest talent you have?
A: I can wiggle my nostrils really fast. Like bunny rabbit fast.

Q: Do you have any strange phobias ?
A: The sound the crumb scraper makes against a fabric table cloth. Sends me over the edge at restaurants. Worse than nails on a chalkboard. I'm shuddering right now thinking about it. And ventriloquist puppets. Especially the one from "Magic".

Q: Have you ever had a poem or a song written about you?
A: Hopefully not something written on a bathroom stall.

Q: What is the nerdiest thing you do in your spare time?
A: I've become a little obsessed with the made for Hallmark Channel movies. Not just the holiday ones, but the every day ones that all follow the same general plot. I've roped my 11-year old son into watching them with me. He thinks they're awful, but we (ok, I) love them. I even record them. It's becoming an unhealthy obsession.

It's Not Too Late To Get Involved
Today is the last day of the tenth annual PPAI Legislative Education and Action Day (L.E.A.D.) in Washington, D.C. If you haven't done so yet, you still have time to join in the effort.
You can join those in Washing D.C. without leaving your office. Visit and follow the simple prompts to ask your senators and representatives to:
  • Keep the unique needs, challenges and interests of the promotional products industry in mind when considering legislation.
  • Watch for any legislation involving global value chains.

It will probably take you less time to act on these requests than it did to read the instructions. Then, encourage others to do the same by spreading the message through social media outlets. You keep up with the visits in real time by following @PPAILAW on twitter and using the hashtag #PPAILEAD.
