Park District acquires Wheatland Township Community Park
Through an intergovernmental transfer, the Plainfield Park District recently acquired Wheatland Community Park, which was previously owned by Wheatland Township. The park is located on 127th Street, approximately 1/2 mile east of Route 59 in Plainfield. The five-acre park consists of a baseball field, large gazebo, playground, basketball court, soccer field, walking path and parking lot.

Party at PARC

Open House for PARC Expansion
We need your input! The Plainfield Park District is applying for a Park and Recreational Facility Construction (PARC) grant through the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to expand the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center. Park District officials will present plans for the proposed expansion at an Open House set for 5 to 7 p.m., June 7 at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center.

Float and Fundraise
Enjoy nature at an easy pace and experience the sights and sounds of the DuPage River while floating with friends for a good cause.
The Friends of the Plainfield Park District Foundation have partnered with Plainfield River Tubing for a day of giving July 3. All proceeds from the day's activities will be donated to the Friends of the Plainfield Park District Foundation.

Movies in the Park
Movies in the Park are back! Bring a chair, blanket, some snacks and do not forget the family for a night out under the stars. Movies start at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.) at Settlers’ Park. No registration is necessary for these FREE events.

SilverSneakers at Prairie Fit
The Plainfield Park District is proud to announce it now offers SilverSneakers through the Prairie Fit Fitness Center located within the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center at 24550 W. Renwick Road in Plainfield.
SilverSneakers is a health and fitness program designed for adults 65+ that’s included with many Medicare plans. A SilverSneakers membership is the same as a Prairie Fit membership. It includes use of the track, open gym and fitness center. Classes are not included.
Those wishing to participate must first check eligibility at SilverSneakers.com/check. Once confirmed, visit Prairie Fit to begin your fitness journey.

NEW! Summer Basketball League
New this summer! The Plainfield Park District is hosting boys and girls basketball leagues for grades 1-4. League emphasizes proper techniques, knowledge of the rules, team strategy, participation and fun. Practices start the week of June 12, with games beginning the weekend of June 24. Enrollment is limited, so register early.

Patriotic Pony Rides
Celebrate the red, white and blue with our horses at the annual Patriotic Pony Rides 2:30 to 4 p.m., July 2. Rides last for 10 minutes and helmets are provided. Registration is required, and closed toe shoes are mandatory.
