PPE Reimbursement Program Payments

If you are eligible for the PPE Reimbursement program (you are a Delta Dental of Colorado participating provider and you are signed up for Direct Deposit as of June 17, 2020), you will soon receive your first reimbursement payment. Please note that all claims submitted throughout the month of May 2020 and the first half of June may not be reflected in this payment if they have not yet been adjudicated and paid (and there may be some lag time for claims submitted for subscribers on individual, not employer-covered, plans). Be assured that all claims adjudicated and paid during the full reimbursement period will eventually be paid, but it may not be the same month you submitted it. Overall, for the first month of this program, Delta Dental of Colorado has paid out nearly $600,000 to more than 1,200 providers to help with the additional cost of personal protective equipment to safely reopen to their patients.

If you would like to check the number of claims included in this time period, you can go to your secure provider portal, click on the PAYMENTS tab, and click on all the checks for the time covered and see what claims are attached to those payments.

Please do not go into your system and attach any of these reimbursement payments to specific patients. This might then apply toward the patient’s annual maximum, and we want to make sure the patient does not lose any of those benefit dollars they are entitled to (remember, this is not billable to the patient). We have received calls from subscribers and employers letting us know that some providers are charging patients for this additional PPE. We want to remind all Delta Dental network providers that your contract prohibits this. Our dentist handbook’s general processing policies include two statements addressing this:

“General Policy—Infection control is included in the fee for the dental services provided. Separate fees are not billable to the patient.”
“Infection control and OSHA compliance are included in the fee for the dental services provided. Separate fees are . . . not collectable separately from the patient by a participating dentist.”

If you have not yet signed up for Direct Deposit but would like to participate in the PPE Reimbursement program, we are extending the sign-up period ( for June and July payment only ) through July 13. The form to enroll in Direct Deposit can be found at: www.deltadentalco.com/uploadedFiles/Dentists/DirectDepositForm-Provider.pdf . This is a fillable PDF that can be filled in online, saved, and emailed. You can also print, fill out, and submit.
