Erick Alonzo (Princeton JSI 2016) is a research assistant at MDRC, a nonprofit social and education policy research organization, where he is involved in projects aimed at improving higher education outcomes of low-income students.
PPIA influenced Erick’s early career trajectory by exposing him to the field of public policy and to MDRC’ers who were also alumni of PPIA. It also strengthened Erick’s quantitative skills, furthering his interest in a social science research career.
In college, Erick served as freshman representative in Student Council, followed by an internship with the Participatory Budgeting Project of the New York City Council, and various research experiences. He was also a recipient of the America Needs You (ANY) fellowship, the McNair Scholars Program fellowship, and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) scholarship, among other awards. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political economy in 2017.
