Last week was "conference week" at the PPMC, with the first annual Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Conference in Wichita, hosted by Kansas Department of Commerce, Kansas Board of Regents and Kansas Department for Children and Families, followed by the annual Kansas Government Finance Officers Association Fall Conference in Olathe. Inaugural Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Conference

Over 300 attendees and speakers gathered in Wichita last week to learn about and discuss workforce solutions in Kansas. Attendees explored the theme of this year's conference, building partnerships to address the future of work, through four dedication conference tracks: Developing the Future Workforce, Developing a Talent Pipeline, Engaging Business Resources and Enhancing Career Pathways.

Keynote speakers included Dr. Michael Eric Wooten, Acting Assistant Secretary & Deputy Assistant Secretary for Community Colleges at the U.S. Department of Education - Office of Career, Technical and Adult Education, and Jeffrey A. Finkle, President & CEO of the International Economic Development Council. Kansas Governor Jeff Colyer provided special remarks.

Kansas Government Finance Officers Association Fall Conference

KSGFOA's annual fall conference in Olathe saw over 130 attendees gather for professional development and continuing education on public finance issues in Kansas.

Executive Director/CEO of the   Government Finance Officers Association Chris Morrill  provided an overview of training, programs, research and advocacy to advance excellence in government finance. Fresh off the 2017-18 season, Kansas City Royals General Manager and Senior Vice President of Baseball Operations
Dayton Moore spoke about building a championship culture.
