A message from our director 

At the Public Policy and Management Center we have the unique opportunity to regularly witness excellence in public service from elected officials, professional managers and frontline staff. 

We see business leaders who step forward to propel their communities and community members who volunteer to give back to others. We often see common people do uncommon things because they want to make the world better for others. With COVID-19, I sincerely hope that others will also have the opportunity to value and find peace in knowing people from government, nonprofits, the private sector and community volunteers are working together to solve difficult and complex problems.

On behalf of the WSU Public Policy and Management Center, I'd like to offer heartfelt gratitude to our public servants, medical professionals and everyone who is working to make sure we have what we need to make it through this time.

Celebrations in virtual learning

We would like to celebrate early adapters who continue their professional development in virtual learning. Thanks to the City of Wichita for allowing us to host our regularly scheduled "Ethics" session virtually.  Attendees remarked their appreciation of time to focus on a topic of importance during these unprecedented times.    
 
Additionally, Women in Public Service celebrated it's first via virtual lunch and learn session earlier this month.  Shout out to Brenda Dieztman for continuing to lead us through the book "Lean In" by Sheryl Sandberg.

Due to COVID-19 (coronavirus) we have moved many events to virtual gatherings or postponed them. Tips and hints for conducting video calls and meetings

For those of us who are now adapting to working from home while social distancing, staying in touch with our colleagues has changed. Many of us are taking a crash course in video conferencing and online conference calls.
