Women in Public Service luncheon set for Feb. 21

The first Women in Public Service (WPS) luncheon of 2020 will feature Jennifer McCausland, City Administrator of Andover, Kan., and will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Larkspur Bistro & Bar on Feb. 21.  McCausland will talk about her professional journey - while incorporating last year's WPS Year of Yes theme and this year's Lean In theme.

In 2019, McCausland started her year thinking she would say "Yes" to a small thing but she said YES  to moving up and taking the promotion. Hear from her about the process, challenges and how she made the decision to SAY YES and Lean In. What can we learn from her experience so far?

Legislative Update and Holiday Gathering provide 2019 finale  

Finishing out a great year of events, conferences, community engagement, research and training at the PPMC was a Local Government Management (LGM) Seminar and a Holiday Gathering on Dec. 12. The seminar offered a look forward to 2020, while the Holiday Gathering provided a fitting sendoff for 2019.
 
The seminar (attended by LGM Series members) featured a Legislative Update from Trey Cocking, Deputy Director of the League of Kansas Municipalities (LKM). Cocking discussed LKM's advocacy goals and priorities for the 2020 Kansas legislative season and fielded questions from the audience. Following the seminar, PPMC staff welcomed Holiday Gathering attendees, who enjoyed festive food, drinks and music.
 
As we here at the PPMC reflect upon 2019 and look forward to all that 2020 will bring, we want to thank all our partners, friends and leaders in public service for working to improve our communities every day.
