Join us for Connecting Conversations: Talent with Community

  
    Public Service Recognition Week (PSRW) is a national week-long celebration to honor those who serve our communities as federal, state, county and local government employees. PSRW is May 5-11 this year, so  we have several activities planned this week to celebrate our partners in public service - one of which is a free event at 4:30 p.m. on May 7 at WSU's Experiential Engineering Building. 
    This event will feature recognition of outstanding public servants, networking opportunities and the chance to connect with professional organizations. PPMC Staff Attend CUPSO Annual Conference in Portland April 24-26
    PPMC Director Misty Bruckner completed her year-long term as president of the national Consortium of University Public Service Organizations (CUPSO) at the organization's annual conference, held April 24-26 in Portland, Ore.   At the conference, Bruckner (pictured) gave a presentation titled "Building Agile Organizations."  Also at the conference, the PPMC's Community Development Manager,  LaShonda Garnes, gave a presentation titled "Why Our Work Matters." PPMC Program Manager Matt Stiles also attended the conference. 
PPMC Graduate Assistant Brooke Bailey Wins KACM's Virgil Basgall Scholarship 
    Brooke Bailey, who's in her first year as a WSU MPA student and works as a graduate assistant for the PPMC, has been awarded the Kansas Association of City/County Management's (KACM) Virgil Basgall Scholarship. Bailey is grateful to those who nominated her for the scholarship, and she feels honored to have been selected as its recipient. She is also inspired by the public service legacy left by the scholarship's namesake. Bailey, who plans to graduate in May 2020, hopes to become a city or county manager. "I fell in love with the idea of working in local government," she says.
