PPMC Holiday Gathering to be Dec. 12 at WSU's Marcus Welcome Center 

The Public Policy and Management Center  invites you and your guests to spread holiday cheer with festive hors d'oeuvres and drinks at our Holiday Gathering on Dec. 12 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the Marcus Welcome Center at WSU. ( Google map I parking map )

This holiday season, the PPMC is collecting items for the Shocker Support Locker, which provides food, hygiene items, clothing, baby products and more for members of the Wichita State University community in need. We will have a donation bin at our Holiday Gathering, so we invite you to join us in bringing items to donate. A list of needed items can be found on the Shocker Support Locker's website. 

The Holiday Gathering follows the Local Government Management series seminar.

Kansas Museums Association celebrates 50th anniversary 

The Kansas Museums Association (KMA), for which the PPMC provides management and conference services, celebrated its 50th anniversary at the Association's annual conference - held in Lindsborg and McPherson Nov. 6-8. The conference provided continuing education for 130 museum professionals, who heard from keynotes Dylan Thuras of Atlas Obscura, Marci Penner of the Kansas Sampler Foundation and Wes Jackson of the Kansas Land Institute. Attendees were given opportunities to engage with professionals and to hear about innovative ways to stay relevant in today's changing museum landscape. In recognition of KMA's 50th anniversary, Gov. Laura Kelly declared Nov. 7 to be Kansas Museums Association Day. PPMC Research and Evaluation Manager Lisa Dodson, who serves as KMA Executive Director, was honored to receive from the KMA Board of Directors a framed copy of the proclamation.
CCMFOA members participate in professional development

Last week, the PPMC hosted the City Clerks and Municipal Finance Officers Association of Kansas (CCMFOA) Institute and Master Academy, which both offer continuing education and professional development for CCMFOA members. More than 170 city clerks from across Kansas gathered in Wichita to attend the Institute and Master Academy, which featured sessions on topics such as budgeting, communicating trust, community partnerships and resiliency. To earn their professional credentials, city clerks must complete a minimum of 120 hours of continuing education. The PPMC is proud to support the work of city clerks across the state, and commends them for their dedication to public service.
