Meeting re: POST Training Requirements
August 23: PPOA representatives took part in a teleconference with legal counsel and counterparts from the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs, Riverside Sheriff's Association, and California District Attorney Investigators Association to discuss the recent decision from Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) to seek regulatory changes to minimum training requirements for newly hired District Attorney Investigators. Meeting participants from PPOA included Board Treasurer/LADABOI Lieutenant Robert Maus and Executive Director Wayne Quint Jr.
Coalition of County Unions Strategy Meeting
August 24: President Tab Rhodes, Executive Board Member Tony Coleman and Executive Director Quint joined fellow Coalition of County Unions (CCU) leaders for a teleconference on Tuesday to discuss strategies for upcoming negotiations re: the COVID-19 Vaccination Mandate for County employees. Meeting with LASD re: Vaccine Mandates
August 24: President Rhodes and PPOA legal counsel joined ALADS representatives on Tuesday for a teleconference with LASD executives to discuss the County's COVID-19 Vaccination Mandates.
Negotiations re: COVID-19 Vaccination Mandates
August 25: On Wednesday, PPOA representatives joined fellow Coalition of County Unions leaders for the first round of negotiations with the LA County CEO's Office regarding the COVID-19 vaccination mandates for County employees. Participants from PPOA included President Rhodes, Executive Board Member Coleman, Executive Director Quint and union legal counsel.
Sheriff Discusses Current Events
August 25: Sheriff Villanueva hosted a Facebook live stream on Wednesday to discuss current events, including body worn cameras, vaccination mandates, and more.

COVID-19 Legal Meeting
August 26: PPOA hosted its regularly scheduled legal meeting on Thursday in order for President Rhodes, Executive Director Quint, Sr. Labor Rep. Venise Wallace, Intake Representative Kevin Thompson and PPOA attorneys to address and analyze COVID-19 issues impacting PPOA members. Additionally, PPOA staff have now returned to scheduled meetings, twice a week, to stay current in all aspects of the COVID-19 pandemic and related negotiations. This dedication of PPOA resources will continue to supplement and enhance the efforts of the Coalition of County Unions (CCU) to negotiate reasonable terms as well as mitigate impacts on PPOA membership regarding this issue.
Meeting with LA County CEO's Office
August 26: Executive Director Quint joined ALADS and the LA County CEO's Office for a teleconference to discuss the need for clarifying language regarding the County's intentions to implement COVID-19 vaccination mandates.
Law Enforcement Technician Study
August 26: PPOA board and staff members met with representatives from the Sheriff's Department, Personnel, Technology Support Division and Communications and Fleet Management Bureau on Thursday to discuss the ongoing Law Enforcement Technician (LET) classification study. The teleconference was led by PPOA Vice President/LET Jim Blankenship and he was joined by President Rhodes and Executive Director Quint.

PPOA is a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the world's largest organization of law enforcement officers, with more than 364,000 members in more than 2,100 lodges nationwide. All active PPOA members are part of California FOP Lodge 1, which represents public safety organizations throughout LA County and operates under the capable leadership of former PPOA President Roger Mayberry.
