Dear Friends,

I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be speaking on November 17 at the Samoset Resort for the HospitalityMaine Annual Conference on one of my favorite topics — digital marketing! I’m so excited about the endless possibilities available to all of us today for reaching our ideal customer persona through smart, targeted digital marketing techniques.

In my presentation, I’ll show how digital marketing can be used to create the ultimate goal: word of mouth marketing. After all, word of mouth remains the most powerful marketing tool of all — a trusted friend or relative recommending your brand carries more credibility than any ad ever could.

Also in this issue, I’m sharing an article about why press releases are more relevant than ever in the age of artificial intelligence. As AI tools like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini scour the web for trustworthy, verified information, they often rely on well-written press releases from credible sources to feed accurate data into their results. That means distributing high-quality press releases is not only a classic PR best practice — it’s now a key strategy for being discovered in the AI-driven search era.

Exciting times ahead for all of us in communications and marketing!

Thank you, and have a wonderful November!

Warmly,

Nancy Marshall

P.S. Another article this month is about networking at sporting events. I’ve been going to the Hearts of Pine games and meeting up with lots of my friends and business contacts. It’s been an amazing inaugural season for this Maine soccer team!

Tip of the Month

To make sure your press releases are discoverable in AI-powered search results, it’s essential to distribute them across credible, high-authority platforms that AI tools crawl regularly. Start with trusted newswire services like Business Wire, PR Newswire, and GlobeNewswire, which syndicate your release across hundreds of reputable media outlets, search engines and financial portals. These platforms provide the structured data and verified sources that AI systems — such as ChatGPT, Google’s Gemini and Microsoft Copilot — use to confirm accuracy and context.

In addition, make sure every press release is published on your own website in a clearly labeled “News” or “Press” section. Search engines and AI tools rely heavily on your official domain as a source of authority, especially if your site has consistent SEO best practices (meta tags, backlinks, schema markup). Finally, share information featured in your release on LinkedIn, Google Business Profile and industry-specific digital publications. These channels enhance visibility, build backlinks, and increase the likelihood that AI tools recognize your content as credible, current, and relevant.
