PREPARING FOR LOCKDOWN

Well the news has come and once again we are in lockdown, but this time for a whole month during what many may feel is one of the more challenging seasons to get through.

I have had many requests for more on-line courses to keep you creatively active during this time and I promise I will be back again next week with news of course for you. These are currently in the planning stages!

I have had to regrettably cancel ALL COURSES at Moor Hall now. This has been a really hard thing to do as I know how important it has been for students to come to the Studio, and it has been extremely important to me too.

My Art classes were just moving into the last stages of our current project which had them looking at several artists that allow 'space' in their compositions. The students have worked through several practical exercises and were now planning their final piece or series of pieces, but it looks like we may well be moving across to Zoom to complete these sessions. This is where they had got to.

In this sample above the student discover a love for using pastels and was clearly beginning to develop his own style of working.

These samples would translate beautifully into quilts using home dyed fabrics.

As you can students have been really busy this term producing a wealth of ideas for further development and on which to stamp their personal mark.

A tactile A5 landscape 98 page book ~ PLOT 105

This is the story of my relationship with Plot 105 - my allotment. The book explains how my creative engagement with the site has unfolded since taking it on and how the plot formed the focus of my practice-based MA research. An essay describes my practice and serves as interpretation for subsequent art works that I intend to make using my allotment-sourced materials. The text is followed by a photographic essay. Together, text and image tell the story of how and why those materials - and the gathering, processing and use of them - are important to me.
