HIT-AND-RUN ALERT SYSTEM IN NEW YORK CITY GOES INTO EFFECT
New York, NY --
TOMORROW Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 1:30pm, NYC Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, Humberto Guerrero (Father of DJ Jinx Paul), and various DJs will be announcing that New York City's first-ever hit-and-run alert system goes into effect tomorrow, March 17th. The "DJ Jinx Paul" Alert System is named the well-known radio DJ from La Mega 97.9 FM who was killed by a hit-and-run driver in December 2016. The driver was arrested nearly a year after the crash.
The law, introduced by Council Transportation Chair Ydanis Rodriguez, requires the city to establish an alert system that will notify the public of any hit-and-runs resulting in physical injury or death and will provide details about the vehicle involved. The notification may come through email notifications, text messages, telephone calls, television broadcasts, radio broadcasts or social media. The law is intended to help the NYPD apprehend the drivers involved hit-and-runs much more quickly with over 8.5 million New York City residents who can potentially report tips that can lead to arrests.

EL SISTEMA DE ALERTA HIT-AND-RUN ENTRA EN EFECTO EN NUEVA YORK
Nueva York, NY -- MAÑANA Sabado 17 de Marzo del 2018 a las 1:30pm, el Concejal Ydanis Rodriguez, el padre de DJ Jinx Paul, Humberto Guerrero y varios DJs estaran anunciando que el primer sistema de alerta de "hit-and-run" de la ciudad de Nueva York entra en vigencia mañana, 17 de marzo. El sistema de alerta "DJ Jinx Paul" tiene su nombre por el conocido DJ de radio de La Mega 97.9 FM quien fue asesinado por un conductor que se dio a la fuga en diciembre del 2016. El conductor fue arrestado casi un año después del accidente.
La ley, presentada por el Presidente del Comite de Transporte, Ydanis Rodríguez, requiere que la ciudad establezca un sistema de alerta que notificará al público de cualquier choque donde el conductor se haya dado a la fuga que resulte en lesiones físicas o la muerte y proporcionará detalles sobre el vehículo involucrado. La notificación puede venir en forma de notificaciones por correo electrónico, mensajes de texto, llamadas telefónicas, transmisiones de televisión, emisiones de radio o redes sociales. La ley tiene la intención de ayudar al Departamento de Policía de Nueva York a detener a los conductores implicados más rapidamentes con más de 8,5 millones de residentes de la ciudad de Nueva York que pueden informar a la policia de pistas que pueden conducir a arrestos.
