COUNCIL MEMBER YDANIS RODRIGUEZ, ELECTED OFFICIALS, AND TRANSPORTATION ADVOCATES TO ANNOUNCE VOTE ON JEAN PAUL GUERRERO "DJ JINX PAUL" HIT AND RUN ALERT SYSTEM BILL

Transportation Committee members will vote on the "Hit and Run" Alert System" aiming to increase the number of arrests on drivers that flee the scene of a crash to be arrested by police and punished by New York laws.

New York, NY - This Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 12pm noon , Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, elected officials, and transportation advocates will be holding a press conference on the steps of City Hall to announce that the Council Transportation Committee will be voting on the "Hit and Run Alert System" bill in honor of all the victims that have lost their lives by reckless drivers. 

This bill will be named after Jean Paul Guerrero, better known as DJ Jinx Paul, that was killed on Monday, December 19th, 2016 by a hit and run driver in Brooklyn. DJ Jinx Paul was a DJ for the popular radio station La Mega 97.9 FM. He was crossing the street in Highland Park, Brooklyn, when a Hit and Run driver slammed into DJ Jinx Paul, ending with his life and fleeing the scene.

New York City experiences one fatal Hit and Run crash per week on average. NYC Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, Chair of the Council Transportation Committee, has been an adamant proponent of increasing penalties against hit and run drivers, and ending all traffic fatalities on City streets.

Miembros del comité de Transporte votarán por el  " Sistema de Alerta Chocan y Huyen"   con el objetivo de aumentar el número de arrestos de conductores que atropellan y se dan a la fuga para que así sean arrestados por policía y condenados por las leyes de Nueva York.

Nueva York, NY -- Este Miércoles 15 de Noviembre del 2017 a las 12:00 PM, del mediodia, el Concejal Ydanis Rodríguez, Funcionarios Electos y Defensores de Transporte, tendrán una rueda de prensa en las escaleras del ayuntamiento municipal de la Ciudad de NY para anunciar que el Comité de Transporte del Concejo Municipal votará por el Sistema de Alerta Chocan y Huye" or conocido en Ingles como "Hit and Run Alert System" en honor a todas las víctimas que han perdido la vida por conductores criminales imprudentes.
 
Este proyecto de ley llevará el nombre de Jean Paul Guerrero, un DJ que fue asesinado el Lunes 19 de Diciembre del 2016 por un conductor que escapo despues de haberlo atropellado en Brooklyn. DJ Jinx Paul, como es mejor conocido, era DJ de la popular estación de radio La Mega 97.9 FM. Él estaba cruzando la calle en Highland Park, Brooklyn, cuando un conductor lo atropello y se dió  a la fuga terminando con su vida y huyendo de la escena.
 
En promedio, sucede un accidente "hit and run" por semana. El concejal, Ydanis Rodríguez, presidente del  Consejo del Comité de Transporte, ha sido un fiel defensor del aumento de las penas contra los conductores que chocan y huyen, y quiere poner fin a todas las muertes de tránsito en las calles de la ciudad.
