UPTOWN COMMUNITY ENRAGED OVER DEVELOPERS & PORT AUTHORITY'S EMPTY PROMISES IN GWB BUS STATION PROJECT

New York, NY -- On Wednesday, August 16th, 2017, Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez will join Rep. Adriano Espaillat, NYS Senator Marisol Alcantara, NYS Assemblywoman Carmen De La Rosa. Manhattan Borough President Gale Brewer and Community Board 12 Chair Shah Ally at a rally outside of the newly redeveloped George Washington Bridge Bus Station to demand respect for the Washington Heights community.

The developers of the GWB Bus Station, SLM Partners and the Port Authority made promises to the uptown community regarding local jobs and community space in the building that they have failed to follow through on. This is after years of delays and starts and stops on the project that subjected the community to noise, construction, traffic and more.

Uptown elected officials and community board members will call on the Port Authority and SLM Partners to respond to these community needs and follow through on their promises.
