UPTOWN COMMUNITY MARKS ONE MONTH SINCE AMANDA MORALES-GUERRA TOOK SANCTUARY IN UPTOWN CHURCH

TOMORROW Sunday, September 18 at 12:00 PM in front of Holy Rood Church in Washington Heights, Council Member Ydanis Rodriguez, U.S. Congressman Adriano Espaillat, Assemblywoman Carmen De La Rosa and NYS Senator Marisol Alcantara will join fellow elected officials and community members to mark one full month since Amanda Morales Guerra defied a federal deportation order and took refuge in an uptown church. Holy Rood Church has provided sanctuary to her and her family ever since, with her unable to leave for fear of ICE officers.
This act of courage and rebellion has sparked an outpouring of support in the northern Manhattan community, who will gather with her, her children, the New Sanctuary Coalition and members of the Holy Rood Church to call for the federal government to allow her to stay the in country with her three children, all of whom are U.S. citizens.
Council Member Rodriguez has coordinated artistic performances and words of encouragement from local community organizations in order to uplift Amanda's fight. This will be a display of the widespread support for her struggle.

LA COMUNIDAD DEL NORTE DE MANHATTAN MARCA UN MES DESDE QUE AMANDA MORALES-GUERRA TOMÓ SANTUARIO EN UNA DE SUS IGLESIAS
Nueva York - MAÑANA, Domingo 18 de Septiembre a las 12:00 PM en frente de la Iglesia Santa Cruz (Holyrood) en Washington Heights, el Concejal Ydanis Rodríguez, el Congresista Adriano Espaillat, la Asambleísta Carmen De La Rosa y la Senadora Marisol Alcantara se unirán a otros funcionarios electos y miembros de la comunidad para marcar un mes desde que Amanda Morales Guerra desafió una orden de deportación federal y se refugió en una iglesia. La Iglesia Santa Cruz (Holyrood) ha proporcionado santuario a ella y a su familia desde entonces, ella no puede salir por temor a los oficiales de inmigración.
