Arts Alliance Receives $1,000 Grant
From the Walmart Foundation
Funds Used to Purchase
"Back to School" Art Supplies
for Elementary School Children
As part of their annual outreach to bring the arts to the community, the Charles County Arts Alliance creates "Back to School" student art boxes filled with
crayons, colored pencils, #2 pencils, glue sticks, erasers, bottled glue and scissors. Each box costs approximately $5. This year, thanks to
a generous award from the Walmart Foundation's Community Grant Program, the Arts Alliance was able to purchase enough supplies to assemble 500 boxes.
With the help of many volunteers from the Arts Alliance's Board of Directors, general membership, and the Spring Dell Center, the boxes were filled, pa
cked up and
delivered to the Charles County Children's Aid Society on August 9. The boxes will be included with backpacks and distributed to Charles County school children in grades K through 3rd.
