Chincoteague, VA—October 29, 2020: The Chincoteague Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 41st Annual Chincoteague Old-Fashioned Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 5, 2020 (inclement weather date is Friday, December 11th). The parade is sponsored this year by Taylor Bank.
As this year of challenges, change and uncertainty comes to a close, the chamber asks that everyone stop for a moment and remember all that we have to be thankful for... our first responders, health care workers, and front line workers who have risked their own health to provide for their communities; our families, employees and recovery efforts that have helped businesses grow and prosper even in challenging times; summer and fall tourism seasons that were beyond expectations and helped the island recover from closures and lost revenue in the spring. Let us come together and celebrate the people, communities, memories, and blessings that have brought us safety, comfort, and love in 2020. We hope you will be able to participate and enjoy the parade within "A Season of Thankfulness".
The parade will begin at 6 p.m. (new start time) and has an extended route from the Main Street/Maddox Boulevard corner down Main Street to Bunting Road to allow for better social distancing and prevent crowding in the downtown area. Please wear a mask whether you are in the parade or just watching. Spread holiday cheer and bring a new, unwrapped toy to put in the Chincoteague Police Department vehicle as it passes in the parade. The toys will bring joy to local needy children this Christmas season.
For everyone's safety, there will be no awards ceremony, refreshments, or visits with Santa this year. Winners will be contacted so arrangements can be made to receive their trophies. We hope you enjoy the festive atmosphere of the fire trucks, classic cars, equestrian teams, decorated boats and more. You may also watch form the comfort of your own home, as the parade will live stream at
