GIG HARBOR, WASH. (MARCH 28, 2022) The City of Gig Harbor is pleased to announce the return of the much-loved summer series of concerts at Skansie Brothers Park for 2022. Set along the waterfront in the shadow of Mount Rainer, 10 concerts span a variety of music and film genres that are sure to appeal to all audiences.

New this year: Movies in the Park will span through the month of July, and will be hosted at Sehmel Homestead Park, with activities, entertainment and food prior to each film screening that ties into each movies theme, from 80’s costume contests to meeting adoptable pets or puppet-making.

SUMMER SOUNDS AT SKANSIE
The City of Gig Harbor brings live music to our beautiful downtown waterfront outdoor concert venue, where guests can arrive by land or by boat to Skansie Brothers Park in downtown Gig Harbor 6:30 –8 p.m. on Tuesday evenings in the summer. Enjoy a free music festival featuring a variety of music genres, from classic rock to 1920’s speakeasy sounds to country favorites.

2022 CONCERT SCHEDULE:
  • June 28 – Soul Searching recreates the legendary sounds of #1 hit artists Aretha Franklin and Elvis Presley for audiences all over the Pacific Northwest.
  • July 5 – Good Co re-imagines today’s dance music by taking the sound and style of the past and flipping it on its head, traversing Funk, Pop, Electro Swing, and everything danceable.
  • July 12ABBAGraphs recreates the pop magic of ABBA’s chart-topping, classic pop hits of the 70s and early 80s, plus top hits of the disco era.
  • July 19 – The Profits – the popular Gig Harbor-based cover band plays danceable hits from across several genres.
  • July 26 – The Paperboys – music from a freewheeling blend of influences from Celtic and bluegrass, Mexican son jarocho, brass bands, and Canadian roots, called everything from Cajun slamgrass to worldbeat.
  • Aug 2Mark Hurwitz and Gin Creek - A two-time nominee for Best Band by the Washington Blues Society, with a style including blues, as well as roots rock, New Orleans funk, and soul.
  • August 9The Beatniks - a beloved favorite, Gig Harbor’s own Beatniks perform 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s music with unparalleled energy and passion.
  • August 16 – Abney Park - a mix of Gypsy Rock, EDM, Electro Swing, Industrial Dance, and Western music.
  • August 23 – Nate Botsford - Country recording artist Nate Botsford and band bring the party with recognizable hits that span genres and original songs.
  • August 30Sounds Like Dolores – the quintessential party band plays a diverse song list of energetic rock, pop, and country dance music from the 80’s, 90’s and 2000’s.

Chairs can be set up after 3 pm on the day of the event, in order to keep Skansie Brothers Park open for use during the day. Roping off seats and chairs/blankets on the Jerisich Dock Viewing Platform is not permitted. No tents or canopies are allowed, but small umbrellas can be used – we ask that all attendees please be respectful of their neighbors. All Gig Harbor parks are smoke, vape, and alcohol-free.
 
The Friday Night Movie Series presents well-loved favorites for all ages, presented at 8:30p to the end of the film, with Kitsap Bank providing popcorn at Gig Harbor’s Sehmel Homestead Park, presented in partnership with PenMet Parks.

2022 MOVIE SCHEDULE:
  • July 1 – Back to the Future – An eccentric scientist builds a time machine, which accidentally transports a high-school student back to the 1950s. The boy must figure out how to set things right, or risk completely altering the future. Rated PG, 1 hr 56 minutes.
  • July 8– The Muppet Movie - the origin story of the Muppets, as Kermit the Frog embarks on a cross-country trip to Los Angeles, encountering several of the Muppets—who all share the same ambition of finding success in Hollywood. Rated G, 1 hr 38 minutes.
  • July 15 – The Little Mermaid - A young mermaid strikes a deal with a sea witch to become human, even though her father has forbidden her to swim to the surface. Rated G, 1 hr 23 minutes.
  • July 22 – Homeward Bound – the perfect film for animal lovers, this live action, heartwarming tale about three house pets who accidentally embark on a wilderness adventure. Rated G, 1hr, 25 minutes.
  • July 29 – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off – “life moves fast.” This ultra-classic about cutting class, being young, and having fun is suited to all ages. Rated PG-13, 1 hr 43 minutes.
