Arlington Chamber of Commerce to Induct Randy Anderson into the Arlington Business Hall of Fame

ARLINGTON, VA - The Arlington Chamber is pleased to announce that Richard B. (Randy) Anderson will be inducted into the Arlington Business Hall of Fame at the 38th Annual Arlington Best Business Awards on May 14, 2024. The Arlington Business Hall of Fame honors individuals with a connection to Arlington County who have demonstrated a long record of successful management expertise and business skills, along with notable achievements, and exceptional civic and community involvement.


"Randy’s illustrious banking career spans over four decades,” said Kate Bates, Arlington Chamber President & CEO. "When you mention Randy's name in the region, it elicits a warm recognition and smile, due not just to his professional success, but his exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to the community. We are proud to induct him into the Arlington Business Hall of Fame."

Randy’s banking career spanned over 45 years in the Washington, DC area. He started his career in 1976 as a management trainee and middle-market commercial loan officer with banks in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC. before stepping into senior credit and lending management roles as a founding executive officer at Allegiance Bank N.A. in Bethesda, Maryland and Executive Vice President and Chief Lending Officer at Virginia Commerce Bank in Arlington, Virginia followed by Regional President for Metro DC for United Bank. For the last seven years of his career Randy served as the President and CEO of The National Capital Bank of Washington prior to his retirement in December 2022. He remains on the Bank’s board as Vice Chair and as President and CEO of its holding company National Capital Bancorp, Inc.


Randy is a graduate of Randolph-Macon College with a degree in Economics. He is also a graduate of the Stonier Graduate School of Banking, Rutgers University and has completed numerous banking programs with The American Bankers Association, Independent Community Bankers Association and Risk Management Associates.


Randy currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Arlington Partnership for Affordable Housing and the VHC Health Foundation. He has also served in leadership roles on numerous local charitable, civic boards, committees, and community organizations. Notably, he served as the Chair of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce in 2002. His involvement spans across organizations such as the Capitol Hill Community Foundation, VHC Health Foundation Capital Campaign, Arlington Community Foundation, Leadership Center for Excellence, Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Mount Olivet UMC Foundation, and Washington Golf and Country Club.
